Engineering jobs matching inflation right now?
Who works in engineering and is getting out of cycle pay raises to match inflation or yearly raises to match?
Everything obviously costs way more than it used to, and our employers need to raise wages if they're raising costs.

Yea, bro.
Name me one employer that is giving 11% + raises to match inflation lol.
You salarycels are fighting a losing battle.
Start trading derivatives or something.

I'll fukking quit srs. I've already had to deal with enough bullchit this year. I'd rather work for half what I make now and work for myself than deal with the sheer greed we're witnessing.

Go to your employer and ask them for a 14% raise lol.
See what happens.

Raises aren't (as usual), but jumping to other companies certainly is. I'm seeing much higher offers for new hires, to the point where new hires are making more than tenured people a level above them

If I worked for a union, or otherwise a company whose services/industry were my line of work, I'd probably expect some kinda 6%+ bump next year.
Instead I work for a large corporation that has entirely different services/industry, therefore my pay bumps are equivalent to what's done for the whole organization unfortunately. Meaning I don't expect to see larger than 4% next year.
The first year or two at a new company feels great from a pay perspective. But man once you hit the 3+ years mark you start realizing your market value by that point isn't being matched by your company. At least that's how its been for me. My company doesn't value my 3+ years with them, like a whole other company would.

Nobody is keeping up with inflation. Who the hell is gonna give out 20% yearly raises? That's assuming it doesn't get worse.

You typically have to move jobs for a notable raise. Market is perfect right now for a move. Anyone getting a raise at current job likely isn't getting the raise they could get moving jobs in this market.

Honestly I know that's not going to happen unless I have a business that makes that money.

7% this year, but I guess it would have been 4.5% if not for a slight bump in title/promotion.

I work at a large engineering firm and nobody here got less than an 8.5% raise.
It is pretty obvious to me that 2022 is going to be vicious in terms of inflation. Rate hikes won't stop inflation when companies perpetuate it by giving everyone cost-of-living-based salary adjustments. I wonder where all this newfound money will go next year?

I don't think anything is going to stop this inflation train except stagflation, at some point.
