OCD & Overthinking (Serious)

Got a bit of a problem with being OCD & overthinking things for long periods of time - some days are good, some are bad.

For example:

- Subscriptions have to be all on the same day
- When I write the paper has to be crisp, clean and smooth
- I need to play games "perfectly"
- Car needs to be in "perfect" condition even though stuff happens out of my control
- Everything needs to work a certain way

Many more, but ones that I struggle the most with.

Anyone else have problems with OCD & overthinking and if so, do you have any tips on how to overcome it?

As I said, some days are good and others are bad.

Reps for serious answers and help.

Used to be a perfectionist.

But one thing I've learned - perfectionist fail to learn because they fail because everything has to be perfect before starting.

What helped finally breaking that habit?

For me it usually passes after a few days/week, but its a pain in the ass up until my brain "forgets" about it.

had serious OCD from ages 12-14. didn't know what OCD was till I was 19. just thought I was a weirdo back then.

why did i have OCD? dont know for sure. but my life did suck a lot then. fam was broke, dad was always yelling at me, new school no friends. went away after i moved back to my old school and my dad became more chill.

I'm the same

I feel like I'm committing a crime when I throw away a pizza box if it is soaked in grease

So I try to slurp out the grease as best as I can before I toss it away, destined to be part of a landfill....forever

Just doing it, and then afterwards you can see where things need more work or attention.

So for example, most people here know that I'm in CC and my first semester is over. Getting ready for semester two. Even though I'm a lot older and can more better use the information thats taught in the class and can better prep myself, there's a lot of things I can work on - and it's only learned by just actually going to CC. For example, this new semester I will go to bed early, make sure to write out a schedule(just missing one simple assignment lowered my grade from an A to a freaking C and it was a dead ass easy assignment) - just a bunch of things you learn where to better improve simply by putting yourself in the situation.

Training your mind to disconnect/move on. It's just like working a muscle, you have to practice regularly to become proficient.

Yep, tell me about it op. Came home to an empty house last night with a note, because after the kitchen renovation she was already scratching the new sink and countertop. Caused arguments because I work hard for my money and do 13hr days at work. I invested about 30k (partner visa) and 3 years just for her to pack and leave when I'm at work. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, but let it be a warning to other bros. Even if you invest in a girl , one day they might just not want to sort things out. No Matter how good you provide and treat them. One day from work you might come home to an empty house and a pissy letter. Srs.

I feel like this is the one answer that gets brought up a lot & probably for good reasons as it might be the only way to break this bad habit of mine.

I also noticed (like I said) that I have good days and bad days with this - which means I might have a trigger for certain things, but others I just don't care about as much?

Either way, with the new year coming up, maybe Ill try and focus more on just going with the flow, instead of micromanaging everything.

Definitely go in head first regardless of the outcome.

So for example, most people here know that I'm in CC and my first semester is over. Getting ready for semester two. I am very confident my grades this semester will be very high because I've learned from all the mishaps from the last semester.
