I have both low vitamin D, sweat like a sloot in church just looking at something hot and have hardly any fat on my midsection. Lose weight and the gut will come off.

It's worth a shot, definitely. At least know where you stand on all your levels. I used to carry a lot of fat all-over, which is supposed to be a thyroid thing. Taking thyroid supplements helped a bit with that.

Lookin yolked big guy.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

to lose belly fat, you can do one of two things

1. eat more
2. eat less

only one of these options is correct however.

OP, hopefully this will help. I used to cope a bit too and wonder about losing gut fat. I got it together, worked hard for a decade, and did it. I don't look fantastic, but it's a big difference.

I used to be pushing 215, a real fat kunt with a 38" Randy in TPB gut:

This is a pic of me in June, dipping into the high 160s, a near 50 pound weight difference:

This is me this fall bulking a bit for winter and letting my sasquatch mane grow back in:

Is this a person who neglected their macro?

thats not refeeeding syndrome. Generally after starving its hard to start gaining weight.

Thatโ€™s a protein deficiency issue.
โ€œ The defining sign of kwashiorkor in a malnourished child is pitting edema (particularly swelling of the hands and feet). Unlike marasmus, where the liver and other essential organs are reduced in size, kwashiorkor is characterized by "an enlarged fatty liver, fibrosis, and dysfunction of several organs (such as the liver, kidneys, and nervous system)".[3] Other signs include a distended abdomen, thinning of hair, loss of teeth, skin or hair depigmentation, and dermatitis. Children with kwashiorkor often develop irritability and anorexia. Generally, the disease can be treated by adding protein to the diet; however, it can have a long-term impact on a child's physical and mental development, and in severe cases may lead to death.โ€
