I personally don't think a cataclysmic extinction event will happen in one singular moment... I think it'll drawn out over the course of decades.

First will be massive inflation to discourage people from having children and wiping out the lower classes.

2nd will be some sort of virus that slowly starts killing off the weak and vulnerable of society...

3rd will be some sort of forced vaccination to further weed out more of society and also mark the individuals who are submissive

4th will be supply chain disruptions to limit access to food and resources...

For some things it might help to get away from the city, store food/water/weapons.

Not everyone can do that though.

Can’t really say, but these things should be certain America falls from power right before the end. China and Russia and a federation of their Allie’s maybe Iran, NK, Pakistan, etc. will reign supreme for awhile and once they invade Israel that is according to revelation when god will return for if he does not return at thst moment it states all of mankind would be wiped out at that point.

Soon in the context of geologic history? Yes. The San Andreas fault is overdue for a big one. The Yellowstone supervolcano is overdue. A large meteor impact is overdue. But none of them wil likely happen in ours or our kids lifetimes.
