Native Americans today are more repressed than African Americans

Just a thought that I had reading about the Wild West today and the American Indian Wars.

While Native Americans weren’t subjected to slavery like black Americans and Africans had, they are arguably facing more socio-economic issues than black Americans at this point

Native Americans had their rightful land stolen and raided by the American people. Not only that but all these years later even though they have some level of autonomy and independence from the government it’s a double edged sword because most reservations I’ve seen are remotely located, barren, poverty stricken places even worse than most inner city ghettos where low income black Americans reside

Native American reservations get no government assistance for education, construction, etc. as a result their land is so underdeveloped and their education systems are significantly more hindered than others in the country.

Alcoholism and drug use is often rampant on the reservations also.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

It's sad.

I spent a summer in Taos NM once and the Native Americans were by far and away the coolest and most hospitable people there. They need hospitals, schools, stores, outlets etc on the reservations.

sucks, i know some of the reserves up here in Canada don't even get clean water. but they are in such remote areas so it's probably difficult to get a lot of these resources to them. at the same time though they get a lot of tax breaks from the govt, alot of so called reparations. but crime and suicide rates among natives are sky high compared to the rest of the pop. never been to a reserve but it must be kind of a miserable existence over there.

Chief Standing Bear had to walk over 500 miles after being forced from his peoples land and the made his way back after being refused at the location they were supposed to go.

Usually the tribe association keeps all that money for themselves. None of that casino money hardly ever gets dispersed among citizens of the reservations

Reservation life is pretty ****ed up for most.


Lots of crime, people disappear, nothinng is done because of reservation/federal law.

Land they stuck on is too poor to do anything( unless they live near a big metro area for casinos or find oil)

native americans are lucky whites showed up. had chinese or blacks took over america they would have gotten jack ****, besides being turned into dead indians

That’s really sad.

I know they we’re definitely not treated well.

Even while doing research, for the Native American heritage my daughter has, anytime I found something, like church christening records, she was always referred to as “Savage Woman”.
I was finally able to track down more information when I found her on the 1857 Ottawa and Chippewa of Michigan Annuity Payment Roll.
It’s like they didn’t want to acknowledge they existed as people unless they had to.

The native tribes who had the various bits of land when the Europeans arrived had obtained it by invading and massacring the native tribes on said bits of land before them.

If they were given this land back as it’s “rightfully theirs” do you think they’ll then give it back to the descendants of those who their tribes had taken it from? Like hell they would lol.

When it comes to losing your land via invasion, they can’t have too many complaints. Their tribes had done precisely that. They knew the score.
