I don't see TLOU2 at #1 on their list so I automatically know it's a chit list.


In all seriousness though, the fact that Shenmue 1/2 aren't anywhere on this list means it as zero credibility. Shenmue essentially started the third person open-world genre and games like GTA as we know it today wouldn't exist without it. Shenmue 1/2 are pinnacles, timeless classics that are still to this day my favorite games of all time.

You know how there are hobbyists so invested in their own bullchit that they can't see the forest for the trees? That's this list. Breath of the Wild is not the best game ever made, nor does nintendo deserve to be the majority of entries in the top 20.

They merely compiled the most vanilla list they could with absolutely no insightful entries.

It's because video game "journalists" are intellectually stunted and have the maturity/life experience of a child. That's why they hold Nintendo in such insanely high regard, IGN/Kotaku/Polygon/GameSpot/etc... always hold Nintendo above the rest as this mystical entity because they're still stuck in childhood, as that's basically the level of maturity these dorks possess. A bunch of 30-40 year old tubby man-child neckbeards with Funko pop collections who still think Mario and Zelda are the pinnacle of all gaming.

at this point there are basically so many games out there that you cant possibly play them all, so anyone creating a list have not played all 100 of those games atleast half way through.


then the games are all so different how do you really say which is best. portal 2 they got at number 3 which is odd, i know people like it and i played it for like idk an hour 10 years ago. but how do you even say or argue if its better or worse than say Earthbound which they got at number 50, its an entirely different type of game. how do you say is zelda botw better or worse than tetris, different game completely

the zoomers writing the list prob never owned a dreamcast. shenmue was super highly rated though so even as a zoomer journalist they should know about the game.

i'll admit i haven't played a lot of these games, I don't think it's the worst list in the world though. It's more of the ordering I think I would disagree with the most. BotW at #1? lol. And probably the top 5 being basically nintendo games.

also no morrowind which was really innovative at its time. these lists are kinda dumb anyways because there's really no objective measure that says, this completely different game is better than this game which is completely different. then again I don't really care for these kind of lists, it comes down to a lot of opinion.

I know that a lot of people like BOTW, but it felt weird and not a Zelda game. I actually prefer the more linear ones.

Or Nintendo has just done really well with software development. They are not "mystical", but they are very good at their craft.

No. It's not even my favorite Zelda as I prefer a bit more linear structure in Zelda, and like the traditional dungeon designs.

im not gonna lie. i bought a switch for botw and have to say im a bit disappointed. nothing really drawing me in

i'm not saying it's bad. i recognize some good parts and i'm surprised at some of things you can do but i have not really found it intriguing

oh. They seemed to enjoy many of the same games you enjoyed this year. Their game of the year was FH5. Maybe things are not so binary us vs them.
