Base model 2012 Kia Optima crew. Love it crew.

Test drove a fully loaded twin-turbo Stinger GT2. Would not buy. For that price, I'd get a base model Corvette.

PS Kia's look so good now because the former lead designer came from Audi in 2006. And his current Replacement also worked for Audi, Bently, and Lamborgini

KIA makes cars now that are second to only toyota for reliability (pre-2005 kias were absolutely horrendous)

most luxury cars aren't reliable and have expensive repairs

If you care what other people think or want a specific supercar for performance than buy an expensive brand

If you want the best bang for your buck, KIA is hard to beat

Damn fine build but kinda weird putting it on a Dodge. For as high as the thing is you'd think there'd be more clearance over the rear wheels. I don't know jack about resto-modding or cars in general (except for basic maintenance) so my opinion probably doesn't mean chit lol.

Not sure that it’s a lie. German luxuries especially take a ginormous hit the first 3 or 4 years. More so than what you would expect from a higher quality vehicle.

I think the warranties on luxuries are the same as non luxuries. And just because nobody can afford an out of warranty luxury car, doesn't mean the car loses its value. It just means less people will purchase it.

Easy to see who’s never actually owned a euro…. I had a new S550 that depreciated enough in 4 years to buy 2 new kia’s. That’s not including all the bs electrical problems that prevented it from starting in the morning.

I would drive a Lexus, never another euro (I know a lot of people that share the sentiment) - that’s why Lexus holds their value.

getting a new commuter car i would avoid luxury cars as almost all brands are comfortable enough really.

But used, luxury brands, specifically Lexus and Acura start to make alot more sense. most importantly 95% of the time original owners are old people, and old people can really take care of a car, 2. high initial depreciation that you avoid. 3. the engineers that design the cars are free to spend more time and money to improve the car, and mechanical components are picked from honda/toyotas top shelf. not a bad deal really

Its comfortable enough, but its not the most comfortable and never will be. Luxury models have thicker glasses all around, more sound insulation, and more noise control. If you drive a lot, you'd want better than good enough.

kia's k5's are clean and the stinger is a solid rat racer, but i honestly think the sonata is one of the best looking cars on the road rn
The Stinger definitely intrigues me. Partly because it's understated. Balls without being showy or suggesting insecurity in the driver. And I like the fastback style. They tend to have so much more room behind the backseat than you'd expect that it's like a cool surprise.

Almost got a 2018/2019 G70 3.3t to replace my current daily. All the reviews I read love the car, until something breaks. Almost no actual Genesis dealerships and Hunyadi dealerships are almost universally a ****show. Doesn't really matter if the warranty covers it if the dealership can't be bothered to do anything. My GLI on the other hand, VW gave me an overnight loaner when they kept my out of warranty car overnight to try and troubleshoot an issue. Looked at the Stinger as well, can't do $40k for an interior like that and some of the other nagging issues the Stinger seems to have. 400 horse/AWD was one of the biggest selling points of the G70/Stinger. Got 325 horse (chipped to ~400)/AWD for $10k less and I seem to be enjoying it so far.

That new Sorrento in Aruba Green is godly looking.

Guy I work with has a 2020 Elantra (before refresh) and has 90,000 miles on it. Only thing he had issues with were the front headlight bulbs burning out.

The thing is, they can be good cars. If they are backing a 10 year 100k warranty, they have to believe in the product. I believe the Koreans kind of messed up when they entered the US market years ago. I believe they know how to make a quality product. If I was making an average wage, I would definitely be looking closely at the Telluride.

I've known multiple people that have owned them. 100% of them have had engine failure.

I dont know if there was a bad run of engines or if they are all garbage. I do know they have a class action suit against them for their engines and they like to do their best to wiggle around and not cover failed engines.

My sisters engine failed and they literally did gymnastics not to cover it. Despite the fact that the symptoms are exactly in alignment with the class action they basically said to her "take us to court, we arent paying"..

Bro there’s not a single manufacturer out there that is going to cover an engine warranty without giving you a bunch of bullchit in the process. Trust me I went through it with 2 other well known brands and through my research dealing with those nightmares, I realized how many other people were dealing with the same chit and had to legit lawyer up for a lemon law.

Even under warranty, when I call my bmw dealer for some work those morons are always booked up for 3 fuking weeks. Then they always want me to drop my car off and leave it with them for an unknown amount of time so that they can get to it at their leisure. Chit is soo annoying. How do they expect people to give up their only mode of transportation for that long?

on top of that every car maker tends to copy the luxury brand designs. I've noticed this more after I got my cayenne. A few years later some standard brand will copy the design cues. It'll never be the same quality as the luxury brands though

Kia is legit now, only reason why people still **** talk them is because of their crappy past. Once they start winning more people over that view of them will change. People said the same thing about Hyundai and they are now killing it with the genesis line up.

I do but only with Porsches. If you research it then you know exactly what to expect, which I had. I was able to fixe everything that was expected on my own. This isn't for everyone, only people who can and enjoy working on cars. It's the same as all other cars, but it takes twice the time due to packaging and finishing of the engine compartment.

I dont disagree with the fact that every manufacturer has issues and all of them are borderline unethical. My issue is that the problem has already been taken to court and the courts decided they have an issue with their engines. An owner shouldnt have to take them back to court over an issue that has been proven, documented and had successful litigation against...

There is fighting to avoid a claim and then there is what appears to be blatant ethical business actions via defying a class action. There is no way my sister can afford to take them to court and they know it. So its one less engine they have to replace despite the class action.


...and 100% agree with you on the current state of repair with ALL brands. It took me three weeks to get an appointment for a minor repair.
