I can see that side of it too. I guess it comes down to how risk averse you are, I’m 33 and have had 3 companies, 2 of which I’ve sold and I’m selling my third before q3 2022 and I’ve been wayyy up and wayyyy down and what I’ve learned about myself is I always figure it out. Never been in a position I couldn’t find a solution for. I know it sounds cocky and pretentious but I’d rather enjoy some toys with the banks money because my own cash can make me way more than 4% apy so the payment becomes negligible. Even if the market crashes I have enough to balance it out and worst case sell the car for a small loss.

During covid I saw cars selling for dirt cheap but nothing worse than 10% below market. Again, just my opinion I may not be the best example to follow because I’ll drive around 20 minutes for a parking spot to not pay garage parking but I’ll buy 3 $500 bottles of wine at dinner and not blink. I could die tomorrow and all that saving up would have been for nothing

On bb.com because I train. That is an easy answer. When COVID hit, my only connection with people who train is on forums. I post(ed) mostly in the >35 and mostly on training stuff.

But I have found the MISC is a cool place. Despite what many think I choose to take away the good parts and I have had a lot of positive interactions on here as well as a few laughs.

As for financial experiences no one will ever experience, I hope not. We live in an awesome country, despite what some of this place may think. Opportunity is everywhere. It is an amazing place where a college drop out, with no degrees or initials after my name can make a way in this world. I know quite a few people, many who do much better than myself. I am amazed at the opportunities out there.

I have enough gray hairs now that I am happy to share things to anyone that wants to listen. I never had that luxury and it took some hard knocks to find the way. Helping others, pays me back 1000x in ways money cant compare. I love seeing others do well. The world is big enough to celebrate others success as much as our own.

This place is not as lost as many people want to think. I bet some future miscers right now are minting NFT's and in 10 years will be more rich than us all. I give them cheers for forging their own path through this world!

On another note. Lets not forget why many of us came here. Healthy mind and healthy body. I dont care what your goals are, but have goals.

Today is my second to last leg day workout of 2021. Been back training 11 years since deciding to take my life back. In that time I have not skipped a workout, unplanned. I have worked out through double pneumonia, though a spinal fracture and 3 disk injuries. The latter with the blessing of my ortho Dr. Just keep getting back up and demand of yourself.

Most people on this site will quit. They train for a year or two and then it gets to where progress is not so easy. The grind will build you in more ways than your physique. It taught me about hard work, consistency. I demand it of myself in the gym and it filters into many aspects of my life.

The work I did in my early 20's benefited me greatly. But I quit for about 10 years because I lost focus. DONT quit. Even if you can only do one day a week. Even if it is only pushups, pull ups and sissy squats at home. Dont make the mistake that I did.

Props to all those finishing out 2021 with goals. I dont care what they are but have some.

Little bump and update.

Trying out a 720s for the weekend. Only driven one a short bit, so gonna try it for the weekend and see if this is the direction we want to go. This car is just stupid fast. It is actually scarry. My lambo may have more power, but the AWD and 60/40 torque split in corsa make it so the tires almost always grip and hook.

This car is just a beast. Colder here today and getting on the highway and a downshift and the rear end started to walk at 70 mph. This hits like a sledgehammer. Really crazy. Yet it is much more subtle than the Huracan.

Going to shock the sh!t out of my son today and pick him up from school in it. This is his favorite car. And I told him we would never get one. So will have to see what he thinks of it.

I would look to get one of their brighter colors, but I was not going to complain about color when they are letting me use the car

OP not going to quote an entire post, but what I mean by goals it’s not the toys or material things but the freedom that you seem to have from the rat race and being able to provide for your family. I have 8 Month son and I look forward to spend a lot of bonding time with him, Motorsports, fishing etc.

Can't go wrong with the Huracan or 720S, or the Ultima. The thing the Ultima will give you is the priceless adventure of building a car bolt by bolt from the ground up with your son and then wrecking (figuratively) every supercar at the track when you're done.

Thank you. Yes, if I can think of one thing that I most value, it is my ability to have the freedom to do what I want when I want. That said, there is always a self imposed balance. I remind myself how lucky I am all the time when I see how extended most people live. Both of their money AND time. Truthfully I could live with less money, but living without any time to devote to enjoy life, would not be much of a life at all. And that is the thing. Some years, back I did not have this appreciation.

But in 2009 I decided to slow my life waaaay down. I swore off most material possessions and became aware of where my true happiness in life came from. I have less 'stuff' now, but I appreciate it much more. For me the stuff would be the first thing to go if push came to shove. I am lucky enough to enjoy some things, but it is not where real happiness comes from.

If I do a 720, it would be buying one new or mostly new. Something still in warranty. They only give a 3 year. And I would own it for a season and move on. Selling it while it was still in warranty.Man. Why you gotta be like that?!!!Just kidding! I am still considering the Ultima. We got the lotus stripped down right now in the garage and my son is enjoying working on it. Part of me really wants to do the ultima, and part of me has warmed up to the idea of a 720s. I had actually thought about doing the 720s for a year and then the Ultima. What is nice about the 720, is on the hwy, it is actually quite comfortable and quiet. MUCH more so than my Huracan. But you give it gas, and this thing is NUTS. The tires wont stay under it even at 65-70 with full throttle application. It is so lite, relative to the H, you just get pinned to the seat.

My only concern is the ultima might be too raw. I still have not made my mind up though. Will definitely follow up with you and let you know. Thanks for all your insight thus far!





Some of the most stupid things are awesome. But as a parent, seeing your kids excitement of things is so much fun. My son does not 'flex'. He is a super humble kid. We have also raised him to understand the place of material things. But he is damn giddy over the McLaren. Perhaps it is because I have always told him we would never even consider it. Anyway, we had a fun ride home from school. Then he asked if he could go out in the garage and check it out. I am not nervous he is putting too much importance on it. He has always loved cars and going back years, the kid would always freak out seeing a 720s. Brings you back to those moments as kids we all had.

One of the things he loves most about the 720s is the active aero. The giant surfboard wing which is always moving while you drive. We have watched many times it flip up on end under hard braking, but it is so fun to watch from inside. On the way home, I dropped a few gear and then sped up and told him to look out the back. I then slammed on the brakes, and almost all your rear visibility is blocked by the wing. It is just fun.

This was him checking it out. I'd love to let him drive it, but it is not my car to risk. They just gave it to me. No paperwork, no agreement. Just take it and enjoy it. I respect that and would not break that trust. But if this was mine, I'd be driving to a back road so I could let him take a spin. TOTALLY different than the Huracan.

Congrats OP. My friend let me drive his 720S, and as you've already discovered it's preposterously fast. I think the design is a huge step up from the 6xx as well.

Having said that...I want you to read this to yourself 10 times, figure out where you went wrong, and go sit in the corner until you're ready to apologize for your misdoings.

Ha. Partially true. Was planning on doing the garage floor, but never had a chance to get done before we moved in. May still do at some point.

The jackstands have rubber tops. The small wood block is because on the lotus, you brace to a frame member that has a bolt in it. The block of MDF just is spreading out the load so I dont tear the rubber tops. The MDF is actually some crazy dense stuff. I just cut them specifically for placing them under there but understand the caution. Not much to defend not putting the safeties in, but you cant lift the handle to lower pins with a load on them. There is also a jack left on the other side of the car as a 3rd safety! The lotus is so rigid, it would actually stay up with only one jackstand on the rear. Also dont forget, that car WHOLE weighs 1900lbs. It is probably around 1300 in the state I have it. Jackstands are 4000lb and likely are holding about 500lbs each.

But year...of course. Most of my stuff is nicer on the tool end. I just bought some cheap jackstands since I never used them much. I have worked on all kinds of stuff, but until recently, it has been many years since I worked on cars.

Thought about a 4-post, but like you said 2-post are nicer to work on. I am still debating on building a shop for cars and such. We are on 3ac here and not sure what direction we are going. Fair points all the way around.

My buddy picked up the gto a week or so back and I ended up snagging an 06 Lexus GX470 with coilovers sitting up on 35s.
Our neighbor had family over for New Years and her grandson pointed to it and said “monster truck!” Definitely made my day lol.

Next year or so it’ll be my own kid saying that.

Sharing with the kids is a lot of fun. Never forget to understand their perspective. Very little things to you will be incredible moments for them. I can remember when my son was very young. Probably 3 or so. I took him to lowes with me. He rode on the lumber cart and of course loved that. At the end at checkout, I put a little box of orange tic tacs on the register. On the way out, I gave him the box. It was like the biggest thing ever to him. Became one of our 'things'. Anytime I was going to lowes he would want to come and get tic tacs. Just crazy. The intent of getting him a little treat was just a passing thought, but what it was for him was so much more. To your kids, you are their heros. Be that for them. But understand that is all they want is your time and attention.


Spent the day getting up at 7 to meet up for Cars and Coffee this AM. It was freaking cold out! Like 27. The 720s is scary as sh!t to drive in those conditions. Just no traction on the tires. But met up with my friends and we all rolled over there together. My buddies car obviously was the center of attention. Didnt take too many pics. Just enjoyed the day!

The 720s I think may be the next car. Just insane platform. VERY different from the Huracan. The Lambo is a spectacle. It is loud, edgy, and hyperbole. It feels mechanical and raw. The McLaren, is focused precision. It is almost organic in nature. The duality of it is amazing. On minute, you are driving along like you are in a normal car, and then you push the throttle. The supercharged Huracan hits like a sledghammer. The 720s is like a tractor beam. It just keeps sucking you in harder and harder. I love them both, but I think the 720s may be a good next move. Or maybe an "LT" series car. 765LT's are too high a preimum for me. But I love the 600LT and 675LT. "LT" cars are more track oriented versions of their 'normal' cars. Lots more carbon, less in creature comforts so weight is kept down.

I am going to be patient though. Not doing anything till my car sells. Then I will make a decision.
Thanks for quoting that. It is truly the thing I value the most. But before I figured it out, I probably would have fuked it up at some point. Cant imagine it now, but there was a time when I did not appreciate that which is most important to me now. I took it all for granted. I would not have blamed my wife if she had cheated of left me earlier in our marriage. I was not a good husband. I was obsessed with work and 'the next big thing'. I was doing what I thought every husband should do. Yet my wife did not want any of it. She wanted me. My time, and attention. My support. One of the very few regrets I have in life is how much I took our earlier parts of our marriage for granted. I had no one in my life to give me good guidance on how to be a good husband or father. It is one thing I try to lend perspective to younger guys I know. Marriage is not easy. But I have seen many people repeat the same patterns. I also know a few people who did not want to divorce, but they just got their relationship so damaged, there was no reviving it.

Don't be too hard on yourself, it's difficult not to take things for granted when you don't really look outside of your situation to appreciate it.

I took my parents and childhood for granted until I was in my 30's, when I dated and met people from broken households and parents with personality disorders. I was raised in a stable home with traditional parents, very fortunate.

Anyway, the landscape out there is brutal now for marriage material.

Funnily enough my buddy at work was telling me how he stopped at a gas station on the way home after picking his oldest daughter (about to be 6 I think) from school and got her chips and now she’s always asking to go with him to the gas station. It took me back to when I was a kid, we had our “Sunday ritual” (every other weekend at my dads) where he’d take my sisters and I to check the mail and pickup a paper and we’d all get chips and a drink and while small it was always a highlight.

And heck yeah man, I’m super pumped about this thing. Definitely overpaid as the market is insane right now but the amount of money he dumped in it helped me to justify the purchase. It’s an 06 with 128k.
