I’d never say no to a ka-bar
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1

It's possible that whoever you're getting it for doesn't have it

But that's the usmc ka-bar with a Lil emblem on it. It's typically considered one of the most basic knives (but again still doesn't mean they have it)

It's very good, I'm not saying it's bad, but it's very popular. It will be good if they don't have it

You're looking for something in the 50 to 100 dollar range?

So it depends what they collect. Do they specifically collect just folding knives? If so, that person will dislike fixed knives unless they have hobbies that they can use it for. But if they're an eccentric knife collector then it would be a good gift.

Thanks. It's not in his collection I know that for sure. Basically I'm looking for $50 - $200 that I know for sure isn't in his collection.

He mainly has folding knives but not sure if he's open to expanding the collection. I guess I can always return it. His birthday is in a few days so I have to get on this now.

idk what your budget is but if this person is a serious collector i'd reccomend a custom blade fromhttps://www.halffaceblades.com/

they are on the more expensive side and they sellout almost immediately when theyre listed but super cool hand forged blades made by a navy SEAL

In superstition, giving somebody a knife brings bad luck. I gave a good friend of mine a OK Japanese knife as a gift since after I house sat for her, I found all the knives were chit. She's Chinese and madly told me she HAD to pay some money for it lol.

Bad luck for who? The gifter or receiver? He's gotten a few knives as gifts and he's had some incredible fortune. Knock on wood so far.

fixed blades are technically nicer knives, they're just harder to carry around cause theyre harder to put places as compared to a pocket knife and get in the way.

the thing that will affect cost most is the steel used. and then in the higher range the craftsmanship

the carbon blades like the ka bar are in the price range you're talking about

d2 is prob the next step up
s35vn is good
3v

list goes on

bark river knives have good fixed blades
benchmade puukko or leuku are good (still in the price range you're talking about)

esee makes good knives and they have a no questions asked lifetime warranty. they're a cool company. like really interactive and transparent, give back to the community, etc.

i'd say the esee 4 is a good size as i have both a 4 and a 6 and the 6 is a little too big

tops knives are also good

If he doesn't have a hobby like camping or outdoor stuff, that knife is gonna sit on his desk. A safer bet is to just get him a good folding knife in the same price range from a good company like Spyderco or Benchmade that he can use as a beater.

I'm getting him the one I posted, plus this one since he has nothing like it in his collection that I'm aware of, and he likes the folding ones better. He'll probably ask me to take it back, though, because it's not really utilitarian just looks cool.

He uses knives all the time for all sorts of shiite, but collects them too.

Got a kabar a while ago, great knife, but an M9 Bayonet would have been better in hindsight for mounting on a rifle for the memes.

I have one, that is a big heavy knife.

If you want a smaller fixed blade, Case make some good knives. One even has a buffalo horn handle hnnggggg.

Same price range, maybe slightly more iirc

Get them a Leatherman. People collect multiple ones depending on the tools on the unit, it's hard to go wrong.
