Snap-on, makita, Milwaukee, or Dewalt. It really depends on what you're doing. Also, if you are really wanting to invest in good power tools, then go to a supply house/construction supply company over lowes/home depot. The power tools you buy at a regular retail store are different then what is sold to "professionals"

Gearwrench, wiha, Klein, knipex, Milwaukee is what I use for hand tools

Power tools are DeWalt, Hilti and Milwaukee. The higher end Bosch are nice too

they have good dust extraction. Pretty important if you want to do trim work in house or work with exotic woods. My sanders, one router, and a couple of drills are Festool.

my cordless drill is ryobi just because batteries don't last in the harbor freight chit.

but, pretty much everything else i have is harbor freight chit.
but i buy the step up from base model.

the stuff harbor freight isn't that bad.
both my sliding chop saw and tile saw are close to 20yrs old and still work just fine.
they have seen a good amount of use also as i used them for my home renovation and brought them to friends houses to help work on theirs.

perfectly fine for home use.

if a contractor they don't have the durability to be run all day every day for yrs on end.

I just bought a cordless 1/4 impact driver from harborfreight, mostly for a tear down and rebuild of an atv engine I'm working on. I'm not saying it's a top brand, but it is a game changer for what I use it for (not daily). I actually have thousands of $$$ in harborfreight tools and have nothing but good things to say. Like a another poster said, they're perfect for home/garage use. And they're getting better too.

Ryobi is much better than a generic house brand. I have used them for years I am not a tradie but do a crap tone of work & renos & Ryobi has never failed me.

Well using the drill to mix thinset they might lack a bit but I should using a mixing drill.

lol@ people saying Snap On. Some of their stuff is pure garbage and it all costs bank.
For hand tools I like Tekton and Gearwrench for that bang for the buck.
Knipex or Klein is solid for pliers and such.


Ryobi is fine for DYI/home owners. Use it myself.

I believe ryobi is a subsidiary of Milwaukee

Milwaukee is owned by some Chinese company

Milwaukee used to be u.s. made but is not now. I believe they supposedly had plans to reestablish a presence in the u.s

Dewalt is Stanley black and decker. Mostly made in China

Makita is owned by makita and is Japanese. But also has plants elsewhere

Looks like you're right as hart is a subsidiary of tti just like Milwaukee and ryobi

Dewalt for me. Dad was a builder so growing up i always had dewalts laying around.

It doesnt really matter though if you arent a professional tradie. Even the crappy ryobi tools will be enough and last long enough with the one off random “project” you do around the house every 3 years...

This may be true but Ryobi will outperform Hart nearly every time. There is a difference in quality.
