Is this one of the scariest ways to go?

- mormon goes cave exploring and gets stuck upside down
- body not designed to be upside down so blood isn't pumped properly and toxic build up in body
- rescue team attempts to free, but layout of cave makes it difficult, would have to break mormon's legs in which the shock would kill him
- start singing hymns, brother talks to mormonbrah about the future
- 100 person rescue team realizes it's pretty much hopeless, mormon brah dies 28 hours later
- cave is now sealed with his body inside

fuark man imagine being trapped for 27 hours upside down in a cave, knowing you are going to croak at any moment. people singing hymns and telling you to hang in there when everybody knows it is hopeless.

The strangest thing about this is that you mention he's mormon twice when it has absolutely no relevance to the story. 'Can you believe this ford owner died in a cave?'

Just weird.

Some people don't have the same self-preservation instinct. A lot of the people that do the extreme height parkour are the same way. They're literally biologically different than you or I.

This is why I don't feel bad for him. Who the fuk crams their body into a narrow space that far? It's not even badass like freeclimbing or something, it's just dangerous for no reward. What an idiot.

It's up there, brah. Slow and agonizing.

I think I'd still take it over being eaten alive.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

never understood caving.

Just the darkness alone would freak me out. Have you ever visited a cave where they momentarily turn off the lights? It is VANTABLACK. So dark you don't even know if you are alive.

As a lifelong member of the claustrophobic crew I came in expecting to challenge your claim by saying that being stuck in a single place dealing with extreme anxiety and regret for 24+ hours while being helpless is the worst…..only to find that’s exactly what you posted.

Edit to add - kind of weird they said “the only way to get him out would be to break his legs….so we just him there and sealed it off”.

Yeah tetanus or rabies are certainly up there as well. And I imagine bone cancer might be worse, though at least then you can just take a fukk ton of painkillers.

I think just being trapped alone in the dark in a small space from a cave in that no one either knows about or can rescue you from in time is way worse.

BRB sitting in cold, dark tiny space starving to death for 2 weeks ****ting and pissing yourself the first day and stewing in the infection for the next 2 weeks as your body slowly eats itself to death and you feel the pain non stop trapped in darkness and silence in your mind

why didn't they send a breathing tube with a secure mask down to him, and then tell him to wear it so he can have clean air to breathe, and then bring in some power tool to break the rock enough to be able to pull him back out???

I think this is probably the closest thing to what you say (warning article contains graphic image)

- Japanese man receives radiation burns due to nuclear accident
- Severe damage to internal organs, skin nearly all peeled off, almost zero white blood cell count
- After week of treatment, japanesebrah wanted to die and said he was not a test experiment
- Suffered 3 heart attacks in 1 hour and was resuscitated each time successfully
- Dies after 83 days, after being kept alive against his will

Some of the other technicians exposed lived for months but eventually died. phuck that chit, trap me in a cave upside down lmao

Idk bro. At least being eaten alive would be over quickly. I’d have to think a minute of pain would be better than 27 hrs of stuck upside down without any room to move and slowly dying. To each their own I guess. Hopefully neither one.

he was trapped in a narrowing fissure upside down so there is no way they could send him anything. they can't bring anything big because it is a small and narrow cave. tools they could use inside was too slow. the way the cave was shaped was that if they tried to pull him up, his legs would hit the ceiling and break causing him extreme pain and likely death from shock.

what exactly do they expect to see other than rock formations? that they could easily see (on the internet)?

I mean likely death vs guaranteed death. Maybe he called them off from trying the break his legs approach. I remember reading into this story quite a bit but forgot most of the details.

Probably is, but going in caves is fun, it's like reverse climbing.

Though you'll never catch me going trying to crawl through a spot like the guy in the OP.

okay thank you for the explanation but it doesnt make sense to me

if he got in there, then he can be pulled back out the way he came. unless youre saying the cave was made of a soft material or something that got smaller once he got in? if his legs will break if they pull him back out, then why didnt his legs prevent him from going inside in the first place

something about this rubs me wrong. i feel like they could have gotten him out.

what about a cordless hammer drill with a large drill bit, if you can fit your body down there, you can fit a cordless drill. then start drilling holes until you can chunk off enough pieces to get him out.... its not rocket science, i drill into pure concrete and it doesnt take that long. drill enough holes and then just smash it away and you can get chunks out of the way
