Because sometimes more options = better. Would you be fine if every lead videogame character was a blue haired woman?? Probably so, but having the option to play as a white male is nice. And the world is a virtue signaling place now. For some people it matters, for some it doesn't. This really shouldn't be anything to scuff at, it's not news worthy, it's not thread worthy, it's nothing to get your panties in a bunch.

Again I really don't care, just make a good game.

If you can't see where the gaming industry has gone in the last ten years, you haven't been paying attention. As ridiculous and cringy as using the term "SJW" or "leftie" sounds, I'm going to anyway. The industry is now infested with them from ground-level coders and testers to CEOs. The culture has changed and the games with it. People like you and I are no longer the game creators and it's obvious. The quality has dropped immensely.

This all says nothing of the loss of passion in game-making, and the constant drive for corporations to suck every shekel out of us.

I've been gaming since the late 90s, so I know exactly what you're saying. I hate Ubisoft and devs like Bioware with a passion.

But at this point I'm like 'meh'. There's nothing we can really do about it besides not buy their games. The days of our opinion being important are dwindling. Gaming is filled with brainless cucks from the very top, to the very bottom.

I don't want to be identified or associated with gamers, even though I game a lot.

Gamers are largely retarded. Where do I start? Most are terrible at games and make the dumbest decisions in multiplayer. They spend billions on microtransactions, but expect innovation. They buy a game sequel every single year and complain about bugs, glitches, and gameplay. A lot of them have terrible hygiene, incel/simp behavior, etc. On top of all this we now have lgbtq getting everything they want.

We can't even get a proper tactical shooter because everybody wants constant action and run n gun.

Yup. The gaming industry went from a bunch of passionate and dedicated nerds, fans, and hobbyists to a bunch of low IQ leeches who are only in it to control the narrative, push their politics, and make money. You can see the results with the complete creative bankruptcy and lack of relatable material. All they want to do is make games centered around social media users who don't even play video games.

It is the whales that ruined it for the rest of us. Somehow Nintendo hasn't dove in head first into micro-transactions, but 2021 showed us they were sticking their toes in the water.

I was never a huge gamer, but I would dedicate some time to enjoying myself playing an open-world slow rpg. Now I don't touch much at all. I'll grab the new Zelda this year, but nothing else.
