Is my furnace/heater supposed to be leaking water ?

So I live in an apartment, the heater is connected to the balcony and there is a little drain on the floor. Water leaks from the unit onto the ground and into the drain. Not sure why, Ive never seen this before from a heater...only AC units.

Sounds like a humidifier built into/onto the furnace

good to know then. had no idea water came out when you use heat. The heater is super loud but i guess its that old forced air style

If it’s a condensing furnace there will be condensate that needs to be drained.
It’s odd that an apartment would have a condensing furnace though.

yep mine looks like a condensing furnace ..is it supposed to be freaking loud...its in a closet which is 10 feet from the bed and its freakin loud

Take a picture of it. I’m guessing it’s old as fuk. I used to replace furnaces in apartments and they would obviously wait until the last possible second to replace them. I overheard one girl saying she had to take a few days off work because of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Ah that’s a air handler. Im assuming it always condensates because it pulls air from the outside to supply the apartment. So you are either taking cold air and heating it or warm air and cooling it.

Carbon monoxide from what? It's an electric air handler with an evaporator coil. Carbon monoxide won't just appear out of thin air.

How long would you say the furnace stays on from 1 refill of the water tank? On a cold day if it last atleast a day but regularly it should last 2 to 3 days until it has to refill the water again. If it's refilling multiple times a day you probably have a cracked bowl and it's going to get worse until water just leaks non stop.

refill of the water tank? I have no idea how to calculate that. The water drips whenever the heater turns on. It turns on every 20 minutes and stays on for around 15 minutes until the apartment is at the right heat level..when its on it is noticeably loud
