I know what the numbers say but I think MS won that gen. Sony came in too late was the big problem in my mind. If both consoles released at the same time it probably would have been a different story but MS was much stronger with software back then too and Sony didn't really come into their own with software until the second half of the PS3's lifecycle. It's a hard one to compare but I think many would say 360 dominated here in the US at least. I had both consoles, my 360 saw 99.99% of my use, no exaggeratiuon.

I mean I think US sales do matter as this is the market I live in and things can be geographical. I mean there is chit that sells well in Japan that I don't understand at all. I'd rather suck diks than be into tomagatchis.

And I am not saying PS3 was a bad system. TLoU is still the best game ever made in my opinion, but it dropped in PS3s last year. I know consumer sentiment shifted towards PS3 towards the 2nd half and again if the PS3 didn't release a year late it would be a whole different story. But the 360 was a very dominant force if you look at the generation as a whole and to deny that seems silly. Xbox started fumbling towards the end of the 360 but they didn't really drop the ball and become irrelevant till the X1 in my mind.

PS3 outsold the 360 as of March 2017, 3 years after the 360's last reported sales.

The 360 effective lifespan was 2005-2014 why are you single yet out the only 3 year period in which Sony finally got their act together and discounting the prior 5 years?

Only reason Sony won the console generation of ps2 is because unless you wanted a GameCube to play Mario sunshine or zelda wind waker, that was the only option. The original Xbox came out a year after ps2 did, so it was already at a massive disadvantage.

Xbox won't end up making CoD exclusive, too much money on the table to miss out. But it would be better to make PS5 players pay $70 for it, while Xbox hands it out for free on the GamePass.

Additionally, the upcoming games are great, but the major win of the purchase is the backlog of games. Really ends up bolstering their GamePass with a ton of games to play.

I'm an Xbox-cel, and this purchase is huge, and a massive death blow to Sony, but I wouldn't want to see CoD go exclusive. You have to imagine at some point Xbox and Sony just either merge or share games. Like I'll give you this if you give me that. Xbox to me seems like the more consumer friendly console. They are legit going to hand you titles upon titles for a subscription fee, whereas Sony will make you buy them. Don't get me wrong, Sony has great games, if not better in quality than Xbox, but the sheer amount of quantity you will get from Gamepass is too good to ignore.
