How did science get so politicized?

Its like a cult now...."I trust the science" and "I believe in science"

Science is about always asking questions and testing hypotheses. But its turned into some politically-charged absolute that cannot be questioned.

With the experimental vaccines....people will say "I TRUST THE SCIENCE!" But how can you trust the science for a new technology, that was rushed out, and has zero long term testing, animal studies and trials?

Why isn't there any debate allowed? Any debate or questioning is just immediately shut down. Any doctors or scientists that express concern or questions the experimental mRNA vaccines are blacklisted, cancelled and destroyed.

Instead of people claiming that they trust the science, they should change it to "I trust Big Pharma!" because that's what it actually means. They are putting all their faith in the pharmaceutical companies that produce and profit from the vaccines. Yet these same companies such as Pfizer have had histories of releasing drugs onto the market that ended up hurting and killing people which resulted in lawsuits. Moderna never even distributed a drug before.

Is that the science these people trust?

We are living in clown world.

Yeah I noticed that the church of science is as real as any other religion. Questioning things is literally science. I laughed when people say science is settled like its an absolute. Theories are never proven, just disproven. If the science is as sound as they say it is, they should be encouraging people to question it.

Because 50% of the country is mentally ill sheep who are easy to manipulate. You tell them that they need to trust science no matter what, they will believe it with full passion. Even though like a year ago they didn't even give a crap about science. Have to be told what to support and do.

Its turned into some trendy, political slogan now. Reddit is unbearable with its "le science"...everyone there thinks they are a scientist, when in reality they are just some political activist who regurgitates what they read from their favorite mainstream media site or blog.

Exactly....the ENTIRE meaning of science is to question things.

That's why I can't stand all of this "the science is settled" stuff. People will read a single article or soundbite from the media (which receives 75% of its revenue from the pharmaceutical industry) and automatically assume its an absolute and cannot be questioned any further.

Science used to be funded privately. Now government provides funding for almost all science research. Unsurprisingly, the only fields of research that get funded are the ones that politicians approve of.

Look at how much money has been thrown at global warming and yet it is still a crisis according to politicians and still needs more funding to be solved.

Trusting science is the dumbest thing you can do. Throughout human history, science has been wrong 100% of the time.

They used to measure people's skulls to prove that races were inferior.

Hitpiece after hitpiece on ivermectin and hydrochloroquine, shilling for vaccines.
Editorals on how racism is a public health crisis etc

Peer review means nothing when the 'peers' doing the reviewing are political activists.

The big medical journals, New England Journal of Medicine and The Lancet are just establishment rags now and they're considered gospel in medical practice.

Politicians don't typically review grant applications. They are reviewed by peers.

There was a "scientific" study that was released the other month saying how global warming is causing migrants traveling from Mexico and crossing the border to get dehydrated and die of heart attacks

I hate the "you can't argue with science" because that's literally what science is. Except now when you try to debate it, even with straight facts, you'll get banned from FB/IG/Reddit.

It's just the latest way liberals look down their nose at those who disagree with them. I forgot who said it, but basically you can't argue with liberals because they believe they're arguing from a point of moral / ethical superiority, therefore any opinion you have that opposes theirs is unethical and void on moral grounds.

Because science is testing hypotheses and analyzing the evidence. The drug companies conducted double-blinded trials on their hypothesis that the vaccines were safe and effective. Their initial evidence was overwhelmingly positive in support of the hypothesis. Random people online saying they know someone who died after getting the vaccine is not scientific evidence proving that the original hypothesis is false. The problem these days is too many people who initially have their own rebellious thoughts spewing their own opinions which is just as bad as "the sheep following whatever Fauci says".

inb4 I'm a sheep for saying this. I have no problem questioning things but I also am familiar with the scientific method and trust the evidence that comes out of well-performed tests.
