even as a kid I didn't get Adam Sandler movies. i would sit through them and watch while other friends LOLd. I watched his movies if anything with curiousity and nothing more.

yeah...not funny at all. later found out its cuz I have good taste and MOST people don't ....really applies to anything and everything tbh.

I think the "style" of those old movies was really different from a lot of the more common types of comedy movies, and that freshness made them funny. I imagine they have very low re-watchability at this point. Billy Madison in particular is probably rough - although I think the clown part is probably still amusing lol.

He was funny at a time. The last good movie he did was Click. I lol'd non stop at his Netflix standup.

90% of his movies are garbage and as I've got older I've just lost interest in his comedic style.
Btw the good ones I'd consider Anger Management (but Nicholson steals the show), Happy Gilmore and Click, but again Walken carried Sandler in that movie too.

Liked him a lot more as a dramatic actor than a comedy one. But I never liked the slapstick type of comedy except for Jim Carrey.

Wedding Singer is probably my favourite movie of his.

I was never a huge fan, but I did enjoy his movies especially Waterboy. Maybe those movies are best left in the past rather than rewatching them and ruining it for yourself.

I will say that the SNL stuff he because famous for is all garbage. I watched the opera singing newsreader and was thinking wtf is this chit.

i think happy madison productions still put out a few funny movies even when he wasn't. his little crew was funny

there was a period where he seemed to be really pushing it. like he was originally funny, sorta creative but around the "dont mess with the zohan" time he was just riding the coat tails of his fame and putting out chit for money

but he did seem to really transition to something different. maybe had kids?

cause then he became a serious actor around the grown ups time

Adam Sandler was hilarious. The run of Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy was dope. But like all comedians, it can only last so long.

Comedy evolves.

Things are funny because they surprise you. Its hard to surprise people. Being able to flip the script creatively and effectively is a constant evolution because old material gets used up and doesnt surprise anyone anymore.

Even the medium of comedy evolves.... Like podcasts by a stand-up comedin are often funnier than their stand-up routine (theo von, or joe rogaine).

Like doug stanhope has mediocre stand-up, but his books are HILARIOUS.

some of the movies had their moments but he plays the same fukign guy every movie and he does the same irritating high pitch voice, for some unknown reason. IDK if that dumb squeeky voice he does is supposed to be funny or what but its stupid and its not his normal/natural voice.

If you look closely at his movies, the humor is all situational humor setup in the script. any retard could have done his movies. he isnt talented for chit. He plays the same underachieving innocent but lovable adult klutz in every fuking movie. One movie he goes golfing, the next he adopts a kid, its all the same fuking guy.

this, unless it was really vulgar, mature and ahead of its time like Richar Pryor, Gene Wilder, Eddie Murphy etc.. its going to get dated in a decade or two.

I think Happy Gilmore can last a long time only because of the strong supporting cast members, but the rest is just Adam Sandler doing the same character, same annoying voice that no one has in real life, talks like hes autistic/retarded, and acts like the jestermaxxer.
