Anybody get VA disability?

It's time to get those free gibs. The Veterans Affairs pays 3332.06 a month tax free if you are 100 percent disabled. Free money after serving your country.

No, but I've seen plenty of people scam/exploit the shyt out of disability on their way out. It's something that really rustles me.

Yea there are 2 100% ratings. One means your completely disabled and not allowed to work. so you're capped at that small amount. It is also not easy at all to get 100%.

if someone wanted to play the system, as most are, i wouldn't feel bad if you did, but 80% is better

You'd be stupid to not play the system if the opportunity comes up. It cost absolutely nothing to file for disability lol. 80% is the sweet spot.

Tinnitus “back issues” knee and shoulder injuries “migraines” can quickly get you at or near 100%.

I don’t know of many people who served who don’t have at least one of those. Bugs the **** out of me that there’s guys who were literally blown up that end up with like 20% but people at 90 who are totally fine.

If you have 100% permanent and total, you can work as much or as little as you want with no income restrictions.

100% permanent and total here. You can work as long as you're not 100% permanent and total in ONE single rating.

I work. I've been P&T since October 2020. I was med-boarded out in February 2015. I was on med-hold from 2008 until then. I got 100% service connected in June 2015, with some back pay lel.

With COLA and my family, I'm knocking down close to 4k with my small CRSC check. I'm pumped about the P&T for two reasons: I shouldn't lose my rating (in theory) and my kids get Ch. 35 benefits, 1300 a month or so to go to college.

Damn bro sweet. I'm also 100 percent permanent and total. Gonna get a job soon so I can supplement my income. 3300 a month is nice but it's not enough in my opinion.

i'm at 50% but working on a claim to increase it. currently doing some research to see if i could tie in my sleep apnea as secondary to ptsd. i could probably bump up from 30 to 50 with the insomnia but finding a nexus for sleep apnea is the hard part.

I'm not aware of any "extra" money a person gets for being wounded in combat. It'll still get put before the C&P at the VA and be considered for a rating. Although I will say me being a PH recipient, I get a free car tag here in Mississippi.

Because I've got two co workers who said they are retired because they got wounded during combat. Not sure if they mean retiring or disability though

Most likely they mean both, retired and got VA disability. I was retired because of the wounds I received and got disability as a result of those wounds. Not everyone who gets VA is because they were wounded in combat. Some get VA disability even if they never saw combat. I had VA disability before I was medically retired, but after I got medically retired I ended up with even more disability (100%). You probably work with guys who were a part of 1-155th INF if they were Guardsmen.

Eh, I pay far more monthly in taxes than the VA sends me so really im just keeping my own money.

Doesn't mean chit. Can they run comfortably? Are you confident they can move all other ways unimpeded? Can they do it without pain? If it wasn't for the military, they would be able to.

Im at 80% but only 10% of my rating is from injuries. I still have to be extremely careful when I lift though. I got degenerative disc disease while in the army and its a life long injury. Some days I feel good, others Im hunched over half the day because Im hurting.

It doesn't have anything to do with a living wage. It's compensation for your pain and/or injuries. In any of the judgements they make, the ability to work does not factor into it. If it affects your mind or body, you're eligible.
Both of these must be true:

You served on active duty, active duty for training, or inactive duty training

My joints are damaged, but they said pain is not a disability.

Doesn't it depend on your rank and time in service?

This is true. No ratings for pain. Only mental, or Musculo-Skeletal.

Ratings do not matter for rank/time in service.

For me it is about the principle. It angers me they did not approve me the first time. How is a 21 year old supposed to afford an MRI when he has no degree and can't do manual labor?

Has anyone ever gotten retroactive to before a filing date?
