Spotify is in the process of removing Neil Young’s catalog of music from its service after the artist published — then took down — an open letter with an ultimatum: Deal with the vaccine misinformation coming from Joe Rogan’s podcast, or lose Young’s music.

Two days after the letter was published, Spotify is now in the process of removing Young’s music from the streaming service, a Spotify spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter.

“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID since the start of the pandemic. We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon,” the spokesperson told THR.

I, along w/ the rest of my family, took the vaccine because we work in the healthcare field however, the "safe" and "effective" is still a long way to go before fully true.

Effective, I'd say its more likely to be true when it comes to the older population.

Safe, can't really say that definitively as the vaccine is still new and side-effects could still pop-up 5, 10, even 20 years down the road.


That's just me.

Spotify essentially told him to f*ckoff- he had no way to force them to pull his music; they did it to send a message as to which asset is more valuable.

In reality, probably a net positive for Young.


A bunch of idiots will make purchases on iTunes, etc that would probably exceed his Spotify royalties anyway.


As a side note, I "met" Neil Young and Daryl Hannah a few yrs ago. Was hiking in a park near Malibu and they approached me and my girlfriend walking their dogs . The dogs were super friendly and came up to us. We were interacting with the dogs. My gf immediately knew who they were. Daryl was chill, and Neil just kept saying that his dog didn't like people and was generally a d!ck.

He sold over 50% of his music a few years ago for 150 million. He doesn't give a fk. He just caused problems for whoever bought that music. They might sue him.
