Deterring them from invading?
They're just spinning whatever action we take. If we back out they'll invade. If we don't they'll accuse us of incitement then invade.
We should have never been there to begin with. Its too late now.

There is a good reason Russia annexed Crimea, you just don't know it because you are ignorant of geopolitics.
We provoked them and they responded, we would do the same if Russia put military equipment in our region while trying to get a foothold in land neighboring America.
"On Sept. 13, 2011, the U.S. and Romania signed the Ballistic Missile Defense Agreement, creating the legal basis for Romania to host the Aegis Ashore missile defense system on its territory."

If you put your BS aside, you would realize that U.S. has done nothing but use Russia's weakness after the collapse of USSR and advanced NATO closer and closer to Russia. Ukraine wasn't always like this, It was actually a decent nation, it should've been a lot more than what it has been turned into. I would love to see Ukraine closer to Europe and be a bridge between Russia and EU. Instead, all I see is U.S. sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, they have done nothing but cause issues in Ukraine just as they did with a dozen other nations, if not more. Classic U.S., cause issues, divide and conquer. Now Ukraine has turned into Poland during WW2. I by no means say that this is purely America's fault, but it is quite close to that. You have advanced NATO literally to Russia's border and installed a puppet, caused instability and literally a war. And you're not interested in backing down either.
Now, the interesting part is, whoever is interested in the actual politics of this and has done enough research, things aren't as simple as they look. France's Macron is actually in favour of good relationship with Russia, France gains a lot economically from Russia. Same, if not more can be said about Germany. Russia has become a huge partner in the last 30, it is far more important to them economically than U.S. is. In fact, France and Germany are now discussing a new defense framework for Europe, which could potentially signal the end of NATO. No one besides U.S. and UK want to go to war with Russia, or even have a conflict or any kind. If Europe and Russia combined forced, it would be a new superpower. European nations are looking ahead and they need Russian energy for it. They can see that U.S. doesn't care about stability and prosperity in Europe, they are just pushing their agenda to cause issues for Russia, regardless of the collateral damage. Everyone in Europe would suffer from conflict with Russia.
I am very interested in how this develops, but considering Putin is not an idiot and very strategic, I think it's fair to say that this has been calculated. Short term loss, and potentially a long term gain. Joe Biden is an idiot if he thinks everyone is going to turn against Russia, because European discussion is now about what caused this reaction and it's clear that it's U.S. attempt to push Ukraine's puppet government into NATO.

Survival. When the jungle tears itself down and builds itself into something new. Guys like you and me, we end up dead. Doesn’t really mean anything. Or, if we happen to live through it, well that doesn’t mean anything either.

Russia, Ukraine agree to uphold cease-fire in Normandy talks
Moscow said talks with Ukrainian, German and French officials were "not simple." But despite their differences, they backed a 2014 cease-fire in eastern Ukraine even as troops ready for war on both sides of the border.
With tensions spiraling in Eastern Europe, Ukraine and Russia held talks Wednesday at the Elysee Palace in Paris alongside representatives from Germany and France under the Normandy format.
It is the first time such talks — which took place in an advisory capacity — were held since 2019. It is also the first time since Moscow's latest military build-up began on Ukraine's border.
How did the talks conclude?
The meeting lasted for more the eight hours.
Kremlin envoy Dmitry Kozak said the talks were "not simple," but there was one common ground. He said that "despite all the differences in interpretations, we agreed that the cease-fire (in eastern Ukraine) must be maintained by all the parties in line with the accords."
Kozak was referring to the Minsk agreement, which was signed under the Normandy format, which got its name after representatives from the four nations met during the 2014 D-Day celebrations in Normandy, France.

How retarded do you have to be to think WW3 will start over this.
There will never be another large scale conventional land war on the European continent, at least not in our lifetime.
It will be endless posturing and exercises flexing power and cyber attacks, sabotage, and economic attacks in the background. Maybe a little skirmish here and there quickly squashed in a “cease-fire”.
All sides understand the gravity and what’s at stake, it will not happen.

To be clear I don’t think WW3 will come out of this, but there are very powerful people that want a global collapse so they can swoop in and make everyone beg for their savior in the form of the New World Order

All sides understand the gravity and what’s at stake, it will not happen.
Oh and Russian diplomats have evacuated Ukraine embassy…
This is not close to being over. Biden has already denied Russia’s key demands!!!
Putin is not going to fold and run away.

Russia likely to stay on diplomatic track for next two weeks - Ukraine
COPENHAGEN (Reuters) -Russia is likely to remain on a diplomatic track with Kyiv and the West for at least two weeks but will continue efforts to destabilise Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Thursday.
Russia has massed troops near Ukraine's border but says it does not plan to invade its neighbour.
Speaking after Russia held security talks in Paris on Wednesday with diplomats from Ukraine, France and Germany, Kuleba told a news briefing in Copenhagen: "Nothing has changed, this is the bad news."
"The good news is that advisers agreed to meet in Berlin in two weeks, which means that Russia for the next two weeks is likely to remain on the diplomatic track," he said following a meeting with Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod.
