I'm literally watching live updates scrolling online from people on social media. But yeah, don't believe it.

There's probably a couple of thousand people on the hill now. And a lot more coming for sure. I still think it's going to be under 10k people, which is about half of what would be there on Canada Day. A lot of people coming in are local to Ottawa, I have half a dozen friends heading up soon.

I've checked some live streams. I'm wondering whether there's some good aerial footage to really show the size of it. Kinda hard to gauge the size of the protest from just the ground footage.

looks tiny compared to BLM march footage from ottawa that had like 20k in attendance

its also cold as **** so numbers would be way lower than in the summer

tone starts at the top. Trudeau said there wouldn't be vaccine mandates because it would be too divisive. Later goes back on his word and even encourages. He is the PM, he has power and sway and what he says can change the prevailing narrative.

not to mention cross-border and international travel is at the federal level. Provinces got FEDERAL funding to implement vaccine mandates. so the idea that the mandates and vax passes are purely provincial is BS and highly misleading.

I think the stated goal was to get the Canadian feds to eliminate the vaccine requirements for truckers crossing the border. Given that said Canadian truckers need the vaccine to enter the US in the first place I'm not sure that the Canucks dropping their requirement will have any effect even if they did drop it.

AT the end of the day the result will just be people letting off steam ...

What I'm noticing is that there's A LOT of protesters in cars, just driving around slowly and honking or just being stuck. Makes sense with the weather I guess. We really need to get some drone and/or heli views.
