Dexter: New Blood was really good until the last ep

Spoilers below-----

Why on earth did they rush the last episode like that? If they wanted to play out the story that way at least add another episode.

But the biggest joke was the story. I know M.C.H wanted to kill off the character but the way they went about it was just bad writing. How his son crossed continents to find him, accepted that he's a serial killer then killed him for killing the coach.

It did feel like old Dexter, even without the Miami setting it was still very enjoyable. But then they ended it like that.

Kind of crazy how so many good shows just end up going to **** because they can't end it properly.

I read about how proud the showrunner was about the ending.

Please find another profession.

I mean it made some sense since he did break his own code and killed a good innocent man (Logan or Coach), which in turn makes him the target for Harrison. Dexter was always about killing people that killed other good innocent people for their own gain, and it's the 'code' he taught Harrison. So he became that 'monster' and Harrison put him down.

Was a good season and I enjoyed the first half of the last ep, I agree it did seem rushed and didn't feel authentic when he just changed his mind and killed him in the span of a couple of minutes lol.

I think people are just angry because they wanted more Dexter seasons, there's no real satisfying way to end it. I think they should've ended it with Dexter dying randomly from an accident or illness (car accident or heart attack or some chit), Angela finds out after he's dead he was the Bay Harbour butcher and then Harrison takes over

It was good minus the ending and the ridiculously investigation into Dexter that amounted to nothing but a sequence of unrealistic plot contrivances.

They didn't have any actual evidence on Dexter. They had just let Kurt Caldwell out of jail even though they had DNA on a victim that's 67% likely to be his, but some elaborate circumstantial tale about Dexter is supposed to be proof beyond a reasonable doubt. There was a HELL of a lot of reasonable doubt regarding their case against Dexter, so it never made sense that he would kill the cop and break out.

Love how people defend the sloppy ending angela lucking out at every turn magically running into Bautista googling bhb killings and catching dexter when after more the 10 years the entire miami metro homicide couldn't Harrison choosing coach over his own father

Angela never even questioned why the screw was in Dexter's burnt home. I mean obviously Dexter didn't kill Kurt's kid and then take out the screw before burning him. The most likely possibility would have been that it was planted there by whoever burnt the house down, but they just ignored it.

With regard to the BHB killings, they likewise had nothing on him. Just speculation.

What was ridiculous about the investigation? It was pretty obvious by the jab marks and ******** that he was the Bay Harbor Butcher lol.

I felt that the most ridiculous part of the episode was Dexter killing Logan, it was completely out of character and felt random af. I get that it was done on purpose to justify killing him off later but it felt like lazy writing. I get why they wrote it in but it was stupid considering he had always got out of sticky situations previously without killing innocent people.

He also didn't need to snap Logan's neck he could've just put him to sleep so again, it didn't make much sense lol

Very rushed at the end and a lot of things don't make sense

1- Why would Harrison kill Dexter? He had no reason and that's the opposite of what you do if you want a normal life.

2- The evidence against Dexter was nonsense, the found titanium peace can't logically be his since it'll mean he was the one who have the other peaces, aka the one who send the letter to Angela accusing himself. They should've considered it a frame job at the spot.

3- Killing Logan was strange since he shouldn't have tried to escape.

4- Changing his mind from doing whatever to escape to be willing to die was very abrupt.

5- Your son killing you will sure mess him up, again the opposite of what you as a father want for him.

6- Connecting that Dexter is the BH butcher came from nowhere, Ketameane and needles marks in 2 addicts and suddenly you know that he's not just a killer, but among all the murders out there, he committed those ones with that different style (cut to peaces and thrown at sea).?

You forgetting that he jabbed a junkie with ********, Angela found he got the ******** from his vet, and the Bay Harbor Butcher killings all had the same jab marks with ********? Lol

Not to mention that Bautista mentioned that they didn't think Doakes was the real killer and then Angela finds out Dexter Morgan worked with Miami PD? And the '2nd man' in the deer video near Dexter's house with a gun from Dexter's shop?

There was overwhelming evidence to suggest he was the BHB lol. No doubt a jury would find him guilty considering how much 'coincidences' there are. That's why he panicked and killed Logan. My only gripe was I don't understand why hekilledLogan rather than knocking him out

I mean the investigation started by bumping into Angel and him mentioning the name Harrison and then her making breakthroughs by googling "Bay Harbor Butcher ********" or something. I'm sorry, but it was not the least bit realistic or well written. People on another site were saying that those injection marks were never even linked to the BHB. There was one victim who was found, but it was never linked specifically to the BHB.

Not really. As Dexter said, the man was average build with a commonly owned gun. The entire case was circumstantial and a drug dealer witness isn't exactly going to be taken that seriously by a jury. There was more than enough reasonable doubt. And, as I said, the injection marks were never linked to BHB's victims as they had been sitting at the bottom of an ocean for so long. There was I think one victim who was found with that mark and they never definitively linked it to the BHB.

And I'm not sure how you think they linked ******** to all of the BHB victims when, as I said, they were at the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. They couldn't exactly blood test them. The tranquilizer found in one victim was from someone who was never found in the Gulf and, again, it was never definitively linked to the BHB.

For me, the buildup and story was amazing, until this part... There was no concrete evidence on dexter. Circumstantial evidence is not enough to stick in court (you are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt).

Dexter had ********, and a drug dealer said he used it on him. ******** was used in the bay harbor butcher murders. That's only circumstantial evidence. There was no actual proof dexter was involved in any of the murders. No dna, or physical evidence of dexter actually doing anything + the case was closed over a decade ago (in the dexter timeline), so you're going mostly off of pictures and historical crime scene photos.

Dexter was completely out of character in the end. He's usually very well calculated and ahead of everyone. He was willing to risk everything by trying to escape and go on the run, and ended up blatantly killing the cop. He is never this sloppy. That's a huge plot hole for me...

1- Why would Harrison kill Dexter? He had no reason and that's the opposite of what you do if you want a normal life.

Because Dexter broke his own code that he had taught Harrison and killed a good innocent man, and because as he explained, Dexter was the cause of all the good people in his life dying (his mother, aunty), his life in foster care and his dark passenger. So it's not entirely illogical to make the assumption that killing Dexter would help his life become normal because he was the cause of all the bad chit in his life.

2- The evidence against Dexter was nonsense, the found titanium peace can't logically be his since it'll mean he was the one who have the other peaces, aka the one who send the letter to Angela accusing himself. They should've considered it a frame job at the spot.

Agree with this, no logical person would connect the dots they were rival serial killers lol. But in light of the other evidence, the Matt Caldwell murder was largely irrelevant to Dexter being the BHB.

3- Killing Logan was strange since he shouldn't have tried to escape.

Not really, what I don't agree with is him killing Logan as he had him in a chokehold and there was no reason to snap his neck lol. That part was just convenient lazy writing to justify the ending (of him becoming a killer rather than a vigilante).

4- Changing his mind from doing whatever to escape to be willing to die was very abrupt.

Well he was willing to do anything to escape to save Harrison, then when he realised what he did broke his own code and made Harrison see him as a monster he wanted to die

5- Your son killing you will sure mess him up, again the opposite of what you as a father want for him.

Dexter also realised that he broke his own code and became a monster. He also struggled throughout the entire season (with the Deb visions) that he was the cause of all the deaths of his loved ones. He also convinced himself that he would be the death of his son, that's why for Harrison to thrive he believed he had to die. And it was at the hand of his own code that he taught Harrison (because he killed a good innocent man for his own gain).

6- Connecting that Dexter is the BH butcher came from nowhere, Ketameane and needles marks in 2 addicts and suddenly you know that he's not just a killer, but among all the murders out there, he committed those ones with that different style (cut to peaces and thrown at sea).?

He sourced the ******** from his vet, the police saw him fight the junkie and the junkie described to Angela being poked with a needle and showing the fresh jab mark, which junkie fukin shoots up in their neck? The reason she honed in on the BHB is because of that other sloots podcast which was talking about the murders in Miami and how they believed it wasn't Doakes, but someone else from Miami PD. And she finds out Dexter Morgan is from Miami PD and changed his identity.

Yeah but the fact Dexter is alive and changed identity, Bautista didn't even know. Even throughout the series when they found Doakes he wasn't really convinced it was him. They wouldve dug up all the evidence on BHB and revisited the case file with Dexter now as the target, because they didn't suspect him before. It would change the way they approached the cold case completely. So the circumstantial evidence is not the ONLY evidence they'd use in the courts. I can't remember who mentioned it but someone (I think the sloots podcast?) mentioned Doakes was at some army training or some chit when the BHB murders happened. If they put it all together they'd have enough to fuk Dexter.

But yeah I agree with him being sloppy killing Logan, that's the only part that felt like lazy writing to set him up as the monster that broke his own code and justify Harrison killing him (to abide by the 'code' Dexter taught him).

The writer said he wrote the ending and then worked backward. He had a beginning and an end and he just yolo'd everything in between pretty sloppily. That's what happens when you force an ending rather than work forward through a logical sequence of events like in Breaking Bad.

Breaking Bad had a great ending but the GOAT ending for a show was The Shield.

I agree, i think they did a great job connecting all the dots it's just the way it was executed that was really unsatisfying. Like the first half of the last episode was excellent, like the interrogation with Angela. Then from the jail scene onwards it kinda sucked lol. I still believe it all made sense though, it just didn't feel satisfying to watch unfold. I don't know if it was the acting or the setting or something but Harrison's change of heart didn't feel very believable despite being justifiable.

There needed to be at least two more episodes and probably could have stretched the show into two seasons. Not having a Dexter/Angel Batista reunion was disappointing.

If they wanted Dexter to kill an innocent to justify his death, they should have had him go beast mode and let the Dark Passenger go unchecked. Dexter cornered with solid evidence rather than that circumstantial bs. The first part of the code is don't get caught so how far would he go if he was? I wish he have gotten caught by Angela, then kill her right in front of Harrison to justify killing Dexter.

Two seasons could have worked a lot better. They could have had some small headline for his suspected involvement in some local murders in that town and Angel/Miami Metro could have learned about him being alive that way. And they could have written in whatever similarities to the BHB murders that made him seem like BHB before **** hit the fan.

Or maybe they could have fit something like this into one season. I don't know. It seems they wanted to really focus on Dexter's relationship with his son and that's partly why the pacing everything else was so bad.
