Sorry to hear, OP. I know a handful. Mostly family and friends of family living in the ghetto who were shot and killed.
One was my cousin's best friend who got in a fight at a bar with some vietnamese gangsters, and they shot him in the head in the parking lot. Dude was 19 years old. Pretty sure they never caught em either.

I didn’t know the victim but I went to school with this guy:
https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/kenle...d-control-him/
He was a really nice guy in school and when I’d bump into him over the years after. Just…slow.
After school years he ended up doing nothing except boozing and smoking weed and lost his mind I guess. Very sad story.

There was a guy that sometimes hung around our group when I was about 18. Nobody really liked him because he was crazy and strange, we later found out just how messed up he was. A few years after none of us had really seen him he was on the news for killing his own infant.
The kid was crying in the middle of the night and he got up and killed it with blunt force trauma to the head. The mother was a friend of mine in high school and she was asleep still. When she got up in the morning she found what he’d done to their own son. Sad stuff.

This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.
Makes me feel eternal, all this Pain is an Illusion.

My best friends sister. She was a couple years older than us and 11/10.
I made out with her once when I was like 15 and she was 17 but I was just a kid and she was dating roided out drug dealers in their 20s.
Well she must have stole someone's drugs or owed money and not paid, they found her shot in the head execution style and stuffed in a dumpster. Never solved.
If only she had given up the bad boys and fulfilled all my teenage desires she'd be alive today living in a happy home!

Take no chances with home invaders. If they have broken into your home at night (or even day) with a weapon, they are clearly ready to use it, and often do for no real reason.
The only person that comes to mind is this guy called Lee Wellard. I knew him vaguely as I worked for the Housing Dept in that area. He was one of the local wide-boys. No massive loss to see him go IMO.

When I was a kid, my grandpa lived about two blocks up the street from us. Every day after work my dad would give him a call and see how he was doing. One afternoon, grandpa didn’t answer the phone.
Grandma had died a few years earlier, and Grandpa had recently gotten remarried. The family didn’t really care much for his new wife thinking that she was too young for him, plus there was something just not right about her. As time went on, Grandpa started talking about some of the crazy stuff she would do, and thought he might need to have her committed to a residential care facility.
That evening, Dad walked up to Grandpa’s house and knocked on the door. Nobody answered, so dad came back home. After dinner that night, Dad was sitting there watching TV and sat up in a chair and said, “something’s wrong.”
Dad grabbed the spare key to Grandpa‘s house and went up there, and when he went into the living room, Grandpa was on the couch having been killed with an ax. Blood was everywhere including the ceiling. The woman he was married to had killed him, and then poisoned herself with rat poison. She was dead in the chair across from him.
They didn’t let me go in the house and look.

classmate was murdered. Body found washed up in Lake Ontario. Apparently his house was found with door open, music playing and generally just looked like he was getting up and getting ready for the day when someone came and abducted him. Had a daughter too and although he was a nice guy, he definitely was rough around the edges and got into a bunch of bar fights from what I knew of him. Literally would come into class with black eyes from time to time so it didn't surprise me when I saw the news.

Yep... I wasn't surprised tho. The guy was a douche bag and would literally try to start chit with everyone he encountered.... I was more surprised that he actually made it to his 40's before someone took him out.

My nephew died of a single point blank gunshot wound to the head. His life had gone astray and he was a hard core gang banger. His sister was living with my wife and I at the time and late one night, she got a call from him asking if there was any way she could find him some massive amount of drugs and it was an emergency (she was like "LOL, wut?!?"). The next day, he was found shot in the basement of the building where he lived in the hood. It was officially ruled a "suicide", but we suspected it was not (or possibly he was told that he could either shoot himself or be shot). Anyway, while it was sad that the kid died, it was definitely a case of "play stupid games, win stupid prizes".

In the mid-2000s my buddies and I were big into playing poker. We had a weekly game and would routinely find others a few times a month. Eventually our circle expanded, usually it was friends of friends or friends' coworkers. Unbeknownst to us, one of the guys ended up getting into shady business. I think he aspired to be a poker pro and spent a lot of time on his days off driving to Atlantic City (4-5 hour drive) to play cards. Looking back, it was pretty clear that he turned to pepsi to fuel his poker game and that's pretty much where it all unraveled.
We played a small tournament at his house with a few of his friends. I don't remember all of their names but do remember the guy I sat next to that day ended up beat to death in a pepsi fueled rage a few weeks later (apparently our poker friend kept a rolling pin in his seat cushions for protection). Never would've thought anything of it because the victim came off as a nerdy Asian student into poker. Poker buddy ended up doing 12 years (assuming he's out now) because 1 thing they couldn't prove was the identity of a 3rd party with a pretty distinct alias who was alleged by our buddy to have done the dirty work. There apparently was enough evidence to know the third guy existed but couldn't prove who he was.

A girl I went to church with got dismembered with a chainsaw, put into garbage bags and thrown in a pond. Ded fukn srs. Another guy I went to college with tried to stop another guy I knew from shooting himself and the guy killed him before shooting himself.
The weirdest one is that my first cousin was shooting fireworks with my Aunt's attorney and he wound up dead. My brother said this same guy (the attorney) was gonna to throw him out of a boat in the gulf but chickened out when he realized my brother was a lot bigger and stronger than him and my uncle (cousin's father) swears foul play was involved

I have a cousin who was murdered in Philly, like 10 years ago. She had a checkered past with drugs and prostitution. Hadn't see her in years and then she was on the front page of the paper. Killed and then burned in a dumpster.

Not that I can think of, but the wife has someone she knows get killed once or twice a year. I've met a few of them but only in passing at BBQs or a party so wouldn't say I know them. They're about that life down in Florida.
In my experience truly innocent people being murdered is pretty rare, most have some involvement with crime and drugs or associate closely with those that do. Choices have consequences. The innocent ones are usually people who are really flashy on social media and some young kids down the street decide to make a quick buck.
