I know you won't do this but taking a full week off of the internet and going outside/doing a variety of activities would do you wonders.
I can guarantee that is true. I have depression and anxiety and it was freeing to go camping and ATVing through the sand dunes. I was mostly disconnected from the outside world and just sitting by the campfire. The time seemed to drag on without TV or the internet to distract us, but it was freeing.

Exactly. A big issue is its very difficult to initiate going out and doing something for a depressed person. But once you're out and doing whatever activity it is your mind is free.

To those of you that say you wake up feeling chitty and only feel good at night...Force yourself outside early morning for a hike or bike ride etc that is challenging cardio (or lift) when you finish the day will still be young and you will feel better the rest of the day in comparison to not doing chit.

Stop the drinking and drugs too if any of you are doing that. You're preventing your neurotransmitters from getting to a "baseline" which is very important so you can asses yourself accordingly and take the necessary steps to feel better.

Yes! I always have to force myself to go to social events. I'll want to cancel because I feel depressed and I'd rather nap all day, but luckily the club I'm in charges for cancellations so they force me to go. Then once I'm there I feel great. It's just getting there that's the tough part :/.

That's a good idea about cardio in the am.

What even makes severe depression worth living for

I can’t tell what my main problem is if it’s an innate depression caused by my past or by my current situation, and I don’t know what or if anything will ever make me feel not complete chit all day

What the hell is the hope that is worth living and striving for

I don’t care about anything, no passions. I don’t have a family to go back to, I don’t have super close friendships. If I had a girlfriend I’d probably be disappointed rhat it isn’t true love or some bull chit. I couldn’t give a chit about money. It’s important to live but I don’t want to live.

What the fuuuuuuuk

I agree with all of this outside of not caring about money. I wouldn't be happy even if I was wealthy but it would lift tons of burdens off my shoulders where I would at least not have to work another day in my life. I just don't get why we have to live to keep doing things we don't want to be doing unless we get very lucky. Any job I get I'm just going to be stuck slaving away so it makes me have no motivation for work at all.

It's more like I don't care of money itself but only as a means to a specific end, that being family or something. If I don't have it, no care, if I did, I'd care

I wonder what jobs are better.

Maybe being a paramedic, sounds better than a lot of traditional jobs. brb Paramedic in Scotland sounds like a good time. Might look if it's feasible

Yeah work is so boring and repetitive i wish i knew how people found it interesting. But i've said it before that it seems like most people don't even work much and if you go places every place is packed, how are people getting away with not ever being at work or working? Where i work i swear most people just sit around and small talk all day. They aren't doing anything. It just doesn't make any sense.

It just sucks man. I remember like two months ago in this thread there was like a full page of different posters just saying how much they hated their job. I think it's a widespread thing but certain people just somehow don't get depressed about it. I think if people have things to look forward to outside of work than they just deal with the grind of work so they can go out after work or on the weekends. But if you're always alone there's just a depressing feeling to work when you have nothing to look forward to at all at work or afterwards or on the weekends.

And I don't get it either where I notice that too where during typical work hours there's so many people on the road at all times. I'm sure some either have a stay at home job or work odd hours but there's zero chance that that's everyone that's out during typical work hours.

Go for it if it sounds like a job you want to do. There's nothing worse than having to wake up everyday having to go to a job you hate. I'm living it currently & it just sucks. My issue is all the jobs I would want to do aren't realistic to happen so I'm going to be stuck being miserable at any job.

How do people not get bored when there's barely any work, there's nothing to talk about or do? Unless people are just drinking coffee all day idk how they don't get bored.

I don’t know why this depression spiral is getting worse

My head hurts and feels pressured

Stay productive interact with people work out eat well wake up early take vitamins

And none of it makes a damn difference so what’s the point of doing it again and again

Sucks that there are so many brahs dealing with this.

Also, brahs talking about work: I live for my life outside of work. If I could erase the hours of my life spent working, I would. It’s a tedious, monotonous, repetitive but necessary evil.

Man there's just nothing to do. I can go lift or go somewhere for a bit but then get bored and i'm right back in depression. I just keep drinking coffee every 4-6 hours to break up the day cuz it's so boring.

I'm convinced that most cases of depression/anxiety are a microbiome issue. More and more science seems to back this up, as well as my own experience.

went to six flags with an sb. Went on crazy rides and they honestly did nothing to me. Was depressed and bored the whole time. Even this hot ass babe smiling at me wasn't doing anything. Think I'm broken.

Same i don't find stuff like that interesting either. I have to force myself to do anything outside of lifting or my hobbies. Idk if i'm jaded or legit have anhedonia. I don't think it's that though because i still enjoy certain things. It's not constant depression.

Also i can't connect with anyone anymore and i can't get convos to go past the boring small talk like gossip or netflix. I don't get how this never changes. Even convos i hear at work are just so boring. I got bored after talking after like 30 seconds.

You guys are showing signs of dopamine depletion ^^

How often are you drinking/using drugs? How often you viewing porn? Video games? Internet time per day?

A "dopamine detox" would most likely benefit many of you

i just can't express myself because of social anxiety. I have fantasies of going on romantic dates with girls but in the moment, it's boring as hell because I'm too shut in. The only times I had fun in life were as a kid with my family because I was 100% comfortable expressing myself around them. I never feel that way with people anymore. Maybe some glimpses here and there with people I've known for years but generally I'm a socially anxious autist.

Same i fear being judged and i'm afraid to joke around or go past the safe small talk too. Plus i can't meet anyone like minded at all. I don't feel comfortable around any of the new people i meet and it's been this way since 2016. Wonder if it's just part of getting older because it started happening when i turned 26-27. I did not have this issue when i was in my early 20s.
