Legit question... does not having kids or being married keep you youthful?

I mean I've kind of wondered if the lack of stress that comes from both and the dietary choices compared to a parent / spouse tends to make one look more youthful?

I get it that genetics don't give a phuck about selection but also question if that's why people still have hair and don't gain a lot of weight?

For marriage wise, I notice a lot of my friends always going out for drinks with other married couples / having dinner parties, etc -- but never anything about them actively being in the gym.

It goes both ways....

Some guys I know are married and look like absolute crap. We are the same age, but people would guess that I'm 5+ years younger than them. But some guys need marriage to motivate them to workout and eat better, so for some they look better.

My guess is that someone who is single but has a good supportive friend group is probably going to look the best, because everyone I know with kids looks like chit after a certain point.

Kids "Can't find a babysitter on a wednesday night.", but it's this line nearly 8/10 times

Interesting to think about. Stress certainly ages you and kids can bring plenty of that. People deal with stress so differently though. Some never seem to get wound up while others agonize over small potatoes. I think your points have validity though regarding taking care of themselves. For some there may be less incentive to stay in shape when married. As a father, my time is at a premium so time factors in, too. I can see where it would be really easy to let yourself go. In looking around at people my age (low 40's) I think the biggest factor between people as far as looking younger/youthful that is easily controllable is weight.

An additional consideration for mothers is having kids. Every time they have a baby it's a guaranteed period of weight gain. Really easy to overdo it, too, since they are hungry all the time and have a built-in excuse to eat. My wife hated the yo-yoing weight. It's just so much easier to maintain weight than it is to lose it and it was a relief for her to be done having kids and get back to her goal weight to stay.

For women it does....Their bodies go through hell during pregnancy and after. They cant even recover properly due to lack of sleep after also. Most women grew up with got weathered from it.

I'm not married and have no kids and people are constantly surprised when I tell them my age. But I think it's mostly lifestyle and diet, regardless of kids. That said, kids often stress people out which is why they eat and drink excessively and generally lead unhealthy lives. So there's that.

In the short term, probably. Sleep makes a difference.

In the long term, not so much. The older people that look best IMO have purpose in their grandkids. Being a grandpa seems fun.

I'm 26, currently single, kidless, and always get **** for looking young.

My dentist thought I was still in college last time I got a cleaning, literally said "so how's school?"

I get carded everywhere I go, but tbf some places have a strict "if you don't look 35+ you're carded" rule, but still last time I was at a bar there was an older drunk girl standing next to me, the bartender asked for my ID, and she laughed and said to me "you don't got any gray hairs yet that's why you're carded".

Last time I was at the gym this guy too big to be natty was trying to sell personal training services to me, and he asked me my age, told him 26, and he said "what really? No way. I mean.. that's a good thing, in a good way." lol

One guy I know from like 7 years ago at this point got married around age 23, got a kid at 26, and if you look at him 6 months before the baby vs 6 months after, definite super aging effects, including letting himself go. But that's all I can go off of, I don't know too many people who have kids yet in their twenties srs.

Either youthful or useless.

Unfortunately, you are not the one who decides which.

Good luck.

I don't think NOT having kids keeps you youthful

However, having kids definitely ages you. I look at pics from just 5 years ago, and remember the energy I once had... not a fan.

Not that I'd take it back, but if your goal is to stay young forever, kids ain't it.

Bro, you're 26.

If you're not getting carded, somethings wrong.

I'm 35 with 2 kids and get carded.

I would say your living a near stress free lifestyle if you don’t enter the trap. Grass is always greener no matter what you do.

Looking from the outside, parenthood looks easy to me. (No more than 2)

The only thing that seems 'stressful' is the lifestyle change but the general parenting looks uncomplicated.

I think they can keep you young.

Got damn. Just joined the parent crew. I realize I'm probably gonna have to be disciplined as fuk if I want to be fit from now on. People who are fit with kids most likely make it one of their priorities in life. Good example for your kids too.

No fukin way i'm gonna let other dads mogg me at my kids sports events. Gotta keep all those soccer moms eyes on me to keep my girl on her toes

edit: being fit keep you youthful. But yeah, having my son aged my face a bit from stress probably. I cant imagine how id age having a girl

32, married with second kid on the way. It's been fuking tough to stay in shape, especially now that the wife is pregnant again. You've got to have a good system in place to make sure you're getting your gym time and keep your diet in check. It's definitely possible to stay youthful after getting married and having kids, but I think it's harder because you've got stuff working against you and taking up your time/attention. It's also a lot easier to get complacent when you're married, especially after that first kid if your wife isn't looking quite as hot as she used to. When you're single there's always the incentive of attracting sloots to keep you working hard to stay youthful/in shape.

Also, little kids like french fries and chicken nuggets and you know I'm charging the dad tax.
And relief washes over me in an awesome wave

When you're a woman telling me you could never lose the baby weight and your baby is now 12...there's a problem.

Staying youthful, fit, etc...is your lifestyle and I'm sorry but that's the honest truth...

Yeah, I agree. After running a couple bulk/cut cycles when I first started lifting, I gained a new appreciation for losing weight though. I'd always been active and never needed to do it before. Some days during the bulk it felt like work to hit my calories and macros so I assumed that when I wanted to lose the weight it would be easy, but I was wrong. No more of that for me, I think it's so much easier to stay in shape versus work back to it after you've gained weight. It's not insurmountable by any means, but I do think it's an added challenge for women.

Of course, I'm telling this to a mother, so feel free to tell me I'm wrong, lol.
