I finally got to see them in State College, PA a few years back. Incredible show.

Fuk, that must've been sick. They're one of my favorite bands and I really hope I get the chance to see them one day. I've been to so few concerts and now with the passing of Chester and Chris Cornell, it's really sinking in that some of my favorite bands won't be around forever. I have been lucky enough to see both Tool and Deftones though, and both were incredible shows. Tool was fukking mind-blowing.

Yeah, you definitely have to make Tool work. I think they're currently on tour as well. I bet Slipknot put on a hell of a show. There are a few other metal bands that I'm notthatinto but who I think would have great theatrics and stage performances.

Maiden is obviously one of the GOATs, but saying Metallica was never good is a terrible take. Songs like 'Fade to Black', 'One', 'Master of Puppets', and the 'Unforgiven' trilogy are universally recognized as some of the greatest metal songs ever written. Then you have the fact that so many bands have been heavily influenced by them.

DUDE THATS AWESOME!!!!! I mean sorry to hear about bad acoustics but seriously watched this show at youtube and I believe this fade to black performance by them is their greatest ever!! Lucky SOB!!! lol

No metal band tops metallica in the 80s IMO and some 90s songs are great too

I even liked st.anger except the trash can snare and couple bad songs

I was fortunate enough to see Rammstein during their American tour years back and it was absolutely something else that is hard to describe. Definitely a production rather than just a concert, if that makes sense because they pulled out all of the stops with a bridge overhanging the arena, and of course the dickah cannon.

I would have loved to have seen Amon Amarth's shows with all the pyrotechnics,butI got to see them live in smaller venues where it was easier to get close (one I was at the front), so I'd say the tradeoff was well worth it.

Unfortunately, I missed out on Slipknot, who were touring with Behemoth as well.

A very under-rated live band is Shinedown. I've seen them a few times as part of larger shows and they are fantastic live. Definitely one of the top 5 bands I've seen live.

Saw both Metallica and Iron Maiden in the nineties and both were fukn awesome
Having said that, IMO Iron Maiden sounded better live and had better stage productions (Giant mechanical Eddie impaled on a tree for Fear of the dark tour etc)

They are just one of the best metal bands mostly because their first 4 albums are so dam good. Like idk how people can listen to AJFA and not be amazed. It's the epitome of metal imo. But they also have anthems like For Whom The Bell Tolls, Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman that are just HUGE songs

Let me rephrase it, speaking strictly for myself I never considered Metallica to be a good band. I feel the best metal comes out of Europe and places like that.

Bruce is actually sounding amazing even after his throat cancer. I saw them twice in 16/17 and Bruce sounded stronger than ever. He's doing a spoken word tour in the states and at the end of the show he sings a bit and he sounds powerful and still has the set of golden pipes.

This. The first 4 albums were masterpieces. Then they sold out and $$$ was all that mattered.

They posted a live show from 1991 in I think san francisco on their youtube channel last year, and they were incredible back then. Playing all their best songs from the first 4 albums, plus a couple from the black album. None of the later crap they play at shows now, just the good stuff.

Fair, that's a fair take. I'm a huge fan of European metal as well, though I don't really associate EU with thrash. I associate them with NWOBHM, melodic death metal and black metal. Some of my favorite bands are out of Sweden: In Flames; Amon Amarth; Opeth (earlier stuff, more so); At the Gates. Then the odd black metal band like Behemoth and Mgla out of places like Poland.

Have seen Metallica at least a dozen times through the years.

The 3 shows on the justice tour are equaled by none of the others and it’s not even close.
