Are you implying that my argument is moot because of a technicality? Do truckers not travel from province to province? Is a province border not similar to a state border? Please explain how this difference voids my argument

There is no vaccine requirement to cross provincial lines.

When your argument is based on something that doesn't exist, I suppose it could be considered moot.

So if you go from a province that has no mandates, cross into a province that does have mandates, can you enter establishments without a mask or vaccine? Does your residence in one province grant immunity to the mandates of another?

You also did not address the other part of my argument. I not only stated crossing province/state lines, But I also said the truckers are affected by going into establishments. Is that not the case?

The federal government (in Ottawa) doesn't govern establishment vaccine requirements.

Do you have any idea of what the federal mandates are? They prevent crossing borders for the unvaccinated so yes the truckers who travel back and forth between the USA are affected.

Vaccine passports are provincial AND federal. Many provinces are dropping their vax pass but they are still required for domestic and international travel.

Again, wrong. Perhaps look up the "Atlantic bubble". Many provinces had/have their own isolation and entry requirements based on vaccination status

The mandate requires (foreign read US) truckers to be vaccinated to enter. Unvaccinated Canadian truckers cannot enter the US due to the US mandate, which was in place first. Canadians can enter without vaccination, but are subject to testing and/or quarantine.

QR codes for entering establishments are provincial. Are you suggested the truckers are protesting not being able to board airplanes? That isn't trucker specific.

Which provinces require truck drivers to show proof of vaccination to gain entry? What does enforcement at a provincial border look like?

I think you forgot the part where the convoy protest is not trucker specific and is a call to end all mandates, most of which are federal, and supported by most who are not truckers themselves

I think that's precisely what was mentioned previously. The goal of the convoy is a moving target.

If they are looking to have their demand of provincial mandate removal met, Trudeau isn't the correct person with which to negotiate.

Provincial mandates are already being removed. The goal is to remove all mandates for the protesters. Federal workers mandates, domestic air/rail travel mandates, international border mandates are all federal mandates are they not? And who is responsible for these federal mandates?

The comments of a few dissenting truckers doesn't change the general demands of the movement, which primarily are concerned with government over reach.

The primary demand is no mandated vaccinations, which would mean the government fully recognizing bodily autonomy of it's citizens, which is entirely reasonable. This government and all future governments lack the humility to use mandates with proper discretion and it is best to remove their ability to exercise these mandates by permanently removing and forbidding them. You could make a clause that a referendum could be conducted to allow such mandates in the future in the event of a true pandemic.

Last I checked Ottawa is in Ontario and they still have not repealed their provincial mandates. The occupation of that city is entirely justified and you can appeal to both the provincial and the federal government to remove their cross border mandates.

The government can end these protests any time they like, but it would mean exhibiting some humility and admitting they over reached. When citizens of a law abiding country like Canada take a stand, when the highways are lined with tens, if not hundreds of thousands of supporters, when the entire world takes notice and launch their own convoys, you think it would dawn upon someone with half a brain to stop and think "what if i'm wrong?".

Perhaps you missed the point. Focusing on Ottawa, the nation's capital, allows you to cover both bases with one large protest. The point of a protest is maximum exposure.

There have also been demonstrations in Toronto, perhaps you missed that?

No, I didn't miss that. Patients and people wanting to be vaccinated were significantly impeded.

They aren't covering both bases in Ottawa. If they are, why also target provincial government cities. We've been told they are planning to revisit Toronto this weekend.

Protests aren't usually accompanied by lists of demands and requirements to meet directly with government officials to direct policy.

I have always thought mandates were a terrible idea that will/would do more harm than good.

I hope whatever this is resolves peacefully and that everyone involved emerges unscathed.

If they just ended the mandates the demonstration, protest, riot, occupation whatever you want to call it (irrelevant) would be over.

Just LOL at the government crying about how this impacts the economy after they’ve wrecked it in two years with the combination of the largest global fiscal stimulus ever and the mass shut down of small businesses.

Want this to be over. Remove every single fuking mandate. Seems simple enough to me. They implemented these mandates with lighting speed they can sure as hell remove them just as quick. I hope these truckers never leave and keep honking even louder until the government surrenders.

The government should just remove the mandates then. The truckers aren’t to blame here. The government is.

If the government removes the mandates these people can get their vaxx. So simple.

I get what is happening. My point was that what's happening is not reflective of a protest.

It would set a risky precedent to meet the demands of an organized group with different opinions than the standing government.

This suggests that there was a huge amount of people looking to get vaxxed. If the number of people who want to get vaxxed is so high, why not do away with mandates? All those people would still get vaxxed right? Because they want to. So nothing changes if the mandates are lifted…the same people who want to get vaxxed would do so. Or do you think that if mandates were lifted, not as many people would get vaxxed, meaning it is not a “fringe minority”?

Right. Because the overreach of power displayed by the government over the past two years isn’t a risky precedent?

Always remember that the government works for us brah, not the other way around. Sometimes you have to hold your employees accountable.
