The vast majority of people who are vaccinated did so before any mandates. Mandates are a terrible idea that will likely do more harm than good.

I've seen the slippery slope argument presented here many times: "this is just a test to see what people will comply with". It goes both ways. If you get to change federal policy by occupying the capitol, why not organize a group and get what you want? Neither of these approaches aligns with my understanding of democracy.

Just found out that Canada has an over 90% vaccination rate and when Trudeau was called out on that and asked if he was expecting 100% (the impossible), he went in to NPC mode.

Looks like that’s the plan. Hes sticking to the “Great reset” plan of totalitarianism and absolute power. He has no intentions of giving up these emergency powers.

That's called false equivalence.

Was there an election for the convoy representatives in that SOS "presser"?

All of the provincial protections you mentioned earlier were already set to be lifted.

The video you posted is from September 2020.

Ok so you’re all for sitting back and letting a tyrannical government call the shots.

Because make no mistake that’s what our government is.

At the risk of getting too extreme to prove a point you’d be the same type of person who blindly followed the nazis. I’m pretty sure most people who led a resistance against tyranny weren't elected.

I know that, dummy. That was his great Reset speech. This is the video I was referring to. It appears from this video, he is saying he is not giving up until everyone is vaccinated. This is a contradiction to what you are saying.

Protests aren't usually accompanied by lists of demands and requirements to meet directly with government officials to direct policy.

I have always thought mandates were a terrible idea that will/would do more harm than good.

I hope whatever this is resolves peacefully and that everyone involved emerges unscathed.
No vaccinations were impeded. Vaccination clinics were not protested at and the Prime Minister made it a talking point in parliament to speak about approximately 600k new vaccinations to try to justify his mandate. If those 600k did it of their own free will then all the power to them, that shows the mandate isn't necessary and should be repealed. If any of those 600k did it due to the imposed mandates then that demonstrates they were coerced, which is the heart of this issue and is why these mandates should be repealed.

They are covering both bases in Ottawa. If you think that the provincial government is ignorant of what happens in Ottawa or at the border then that speaks to the incompetency of the government and further justifies why they are not qualified to issue and enforce mandates. Provincial government cities across the nation each have their own protests to varying degrees. This speaks to your point earlier about the distinction between provincial and federal mandates. The message to government at all levels is No More Mandates. There are no gaps in coverage, to my knowledge, on behalf of the protestors.

It is not unreasonable for protestors to want to have their concerns be acknowledged. That's the point of the protest. While the protest was initially started by a few organizers it has grown in excess of their influence and they can not vouch for each and every individual present. Disingenuous news outlets and politicians will cite the differences of individual protestors opinions to suggest the protest is aimless but they do this in bad faith. The resounding message amongst all people in the protest is the same. No More Mandates.

I can see we agree on the mandates being a bad idea and that no one should be hurt. The Prime minister could satisfy both these points in a single day by renouncing the policy implemented on January 15th and admitting his mistake in implementing it. the protest could be over so quickly if Justin Trudeau exercised the smallest amount of humility but in this regard, as well as many others, he is completely incapable.

There's some logic to not caving in to a minority group but you discount the support for the convoy being exhibited across the country. Thousands of people out in the cold waving flags and holding signs mean something. The sentiment among a large portion of the population is that the concerns of the truckers are legitimate, even if not everyone agrees with the means by which they protest.

Nice. Straw man combined with ad hominem

Ad strawminem?

I take neither of those positions. It's possible both the government, and whatever this movement is, are less than ideal - at the same time.

It was challenging for people to get to the clinic. They arrived late and sweaty due to the protest.

You’re quite the pseudo intellectual eh?

Did you take an intro to philosophy course at brockU or something? Learn a bit about intro to logic. You’re the type of guy to actually use these terms at a bar in a convo while not addressing anything practical or relevant LOL.

If they ended the mandates, the truckers would leave and these people could get to the clinic to get their vaccinations. Use your head. It’s the governments fault these people can’t get vaxxed. Not the truckers.

Any thoughts regarding the discussion?

Do you really think it's a dichotomy? Either one supports the government 100%ORone supports the convoy 100%?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you're not Canadian, because if you were Canadian then you would know how laughably easy it is to go to a vast multitude of pharmacies to get vaccinated. The sheer amount of choice you have at your disposal is incredible. You would be hard pressed to travel more than 5 minutes in any city in this country without finding a place that can vaccinate you and the idea that anyone broke any kind of a sweat is preposterous.

Looks like your limb is pretty unstable.

You don't need appointments where you are?

We have to make sure we have enough doses to cover appointments before we open up to walk ins. Is it different in your part of Canada?

In Edmonton you can walk in at some locations and you can also make appointments.

Would you book an appointment at a clinic or pharmacy in the middle of a protest you knew was ongoing? That would seem like poor planning.

Pretty sure Brad was hammered and stumbled into a temporary pop up clinic on the street when he got vaxxed.

If vaccines were any more available here they'd be sending pre loaded syringes in kids cereal boxes.

We received notice of the protest the same week it was occurring.

We were advised to have our badges with us for access, but not displayed, and not to dress in attire associated with hospital staff.

I wouldn't be as presumptive as to suggest Toronto and Edmonton are the same, or even similar. But, perhaps you've been in both locales, recently.
