90's to mid 2000's back when you could just relax and didn't have to worry about checking social media constantly. The wireless tech wasn't available at the time.

Life and society just suck so bad right now it's a literal nightmare

How did we go from the greatness of the 80s and 90s to clown culture that we have today?

Every sloot on Onlyfans, kids on antidepressants and addicted to TikTok and social media, hyper consumerism, wokeness, movies and TV are all trash, internet sucks compared to 90s

I was born in 1987 so I was 3-13 in the 90s, the stereotypical 90s kid. God I wish I could go back. I still watch nicktoons every once in a while online, they are just as good as they used to be.

Already been mentioned in this thread, the problem is u can't give a bunch of losers in society a voice, that's what happened and (white men especially) were told they are selfish for wanting to have success and enjoy their lives.
Now it's a world of stepping on eggshells so no one gets offended, and progress is women sleeping with randoms not having kids and equality is giving unqualified idiots power in companies because of skin colour diversity.
I grew up in the 90s and was a teenager through to the late 2000s, I consider myself very lucky.

Computers were amazing, dial up internet, america online, chat rooms, talking to other people. If you were on the internet in the 90's you were a tech savy person. There were far less people on the internet back then, and people were super chill with each other. There was no social media, no Instagram sloots, just people amazed you could chat with someone from another state or country through a computer.


Computer Games were also amazing in the 90's with the new 3D tech the goat computer game.


People had cell-phones but we used them to talk to people, not to be glued to them 24/7 taking endless amounts of selfies.


If you wanted a movie you had to go out and physically rent one, if you wanted music you had to go to a record store and browse the CD's. Maybe you were lucky enough to find a record store that had demo stations.
Plus movies were awesome in the 90's over the top action not the watered down super hero political chit thats non stop today.

Lets be real the 90's grunge era is the Goat Time for rock music. Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Bush, Silver Chair, Rage, smashing pumpkins, green day, stone temple pilots, RHCP, Foo Fighters etc...


Television was awesome for adult or kids with shows like Seinfeld, X-Files then you had Nickelodeon at it's peak.


The economy was great and gas was cheap. I could get a half a tank for $5.

The Goat Basketball Shoes were all in the 90's.


And Pam was in her fuking prime still!


The World was just more chill.

Even 90s internet was better. There was something special about it, don't know how to describe it. It was like the wild west and wasn't so sterilized like today.

Everyone was so chill online. No social media or politics. I used to make websites back in the 90s and was a lot of fun. Remember visit counters and guest books?

Definitely not going to another decade like that 90s, that's for sure.

Some of the best TV shows that lasted at least up until the early 2000's - still love watching re-runs of them when I can.

But probably the best thing about this decade is how no one cared about what anyone else was doing, they only cared about themselves and their own person lives.
Wish we could get that from the 90s back now, it would honestly make life smoother.

Wonder Years was a great show



It was just a much more wholesome, upbeat, positive, peaceful time

You didn't have the division, hate, identity politics, race-baiting like today. People were much more unified and people were happier in general.

yea, people say that everybody is more in their own bubble now. but i dont think so. maybe there's more inauthenticity

i think when you were out and about everybody was more in their own bubble and doing more individualistic chit. so talking to them would be an experience

i think there's much more "universal" taste right now and that's because a lot of people are on the same mediums

i haven't had social media for a long time, but i know this is one aspect i didn't like. you'd know chit about people you shouldn't just cause you were scrolling cause you were bored

further, a lot of people want to exploit those mediums, so there's lots of trash. they're all trying to be "popular" in the same way

I think its because we've devolved into hyper consumerism. There's a lot less "trends" and "cliques" now than there were in the past. With technology/smartphones/social media everyone has kind of melted into a universal mold that can be manipulated to consume.

Take high school in the 90s and early 2000s for example, there used to be all kinds of groups of kids. Goths, skaters, jocks, nerds, preps, band geeks, outsiders, etc.

Now you don't see that anymore, everyone is kind of sterilized and androgynous. You just only have social justice warriors/feminists pretty much.

yea, i think its the opposite of this. but from the rest of your post it seems we agree. i think you're meaning it like there are less individual groups

there are MORE trends that people join in on. more people are in on the big trends. making it less creative and individualistic

whereas before things were more individualistic. when you talked to someone in real life you had no idea what they were doing. more genuine intrigue and curiosity. whereas nowadays you can know without talking to them

but it should be said that i think the same life can be lived back then with the technological perks of now. you just have to be different from the trend

Truthfully, one of the few shows that I didn't manage to watch growing up during its run or download to watch on my own.

Definitely need to watch this before its too late and they take all this good stuff off the internet.

Also, isn't this the show that they re-booted and basically made the whole cast, black? I feel like someone posted about this a few months back in 2021.

Would definitely recommend watching it, its a great show and I related to a lot of it, even growing up in the 90s despite it depicting taking place in the late 60s/early 70s.

And yeah, they rebooted it recently with an all black cast and made it all about "racism" and politics. Just another classic ruined by wokeism.

Will do. I did enjoy his brother, Ben Savage, in his role as Cory Matthews in Boy Meets World.

I mean, Liberal media nowadays doesn't really know how to be unique and actually make a show that's worth watching, all they know is re-boots.

- Movies weren’t politically correct nor did anyone walk on eggs over not insulting some group.

- WWE was in its attitude era, greatest show on tv at the time

- T2, Matrix, Blair Witch, Saving Private Ryan, etc.

- Bill Clinton was a good president, worked across the aisle and was inclusive, left the nation with a surplus…. Plus smashed Monica like a alpha. I am convinced he will be the last president to ever balance the budget.

- No War on Terror, news less toxic, race relations improving

- No instagram which is now hijacked by sloots who are now validated to the point of mythical beings.

- People actually hung out, phones were secondary things.


And then 9/11, Iraq, Social media, and globo homo happened…

Some of the best shows that I remember that dealt with this topic were Fresh Prince, Family Matters and the Jeffersons.

These shows did an amazing job showing racial injustice, but at the same time, teaching that two wrongs don't make a right and payback doesn't solve anything.
Wish I had more time in my day to sit back and re-watch these great shows.
