new job sucks fml

dear diary

started a new sales gig at one of the sexier companies out there in tech / SaaS about 3 weeks ago

enterprise closing role

pretty decent bump from my old spot ($280k OTE with a 50/50 base/variable split)


Got my territory on Monday



It’s ****ing AWFUL lol

Two of my accounts could be considered enterprise (large public companies).

The other ten are absolute trash.


I would not be surprised if I sell $0 against my 1.2 million dollar quota this year.


once again I learn the hard way that the grass is not always greener.

Literally my base salary, which is 140k, and they pay me my variable for 3 months which comes out to another 35k. So 175k total if I don’t sell anything, and honestly I think there’s above a 50% chance I won’t sell anything.

Well that sounds like a lose lose scenario for them, sounds like they will be paying you 175k and be getting nothing in return and wasting time

Why don't you come up with a solution where you would be able to be of more use for your pay and not have to feel like you cant do your job effectively? May take some thinking but seems a better solution than just LDARing and accepting being fired in the future.

they may not fully grasp how ineffective his position is currently. If OP can find a way to justify making his position more conducive to making sales and present it to his superiors so that it sounds like NO one could fill this position due to circumstances out of OP's control, then they should be willing to negotiate.

Like I said currently it sounds like a lose lose so I am sure they would be open to a more productive solution.
