How do you alleviate side cramps?

Is it true its better to run on asphalt rather than a sidewalk?

Are the no cushion shoes, like the barefoot shoes better for you to run in?

I usually let my mind wonder, miles fly by when I zone out a lot. Once the breathing is in sync with the rest of your body and it just becomes easier.

Side cramps or side stitches usually coming from drinking too much fluid or not enough. I personally dislike sidewalks, when they're uneven I worry about my knees. I never cared for zero drop shoes like Altra.

90% road, I'll venture on the trails every so often.

I have a road bike that I'll use to cross train but haven't used it much during the winter.

I had a knee injury when I first started running. I tried to run too much too soon and my form was crap. I wasn't able to run for more than 2 miles until it healed.

It could be the shoe isn't right for you or the foot strike is off. Spend some time stretching and see if it helps.

I started in 2018 but really got into the marathon distance. I won't be doing another until Chicago this year so I'll have some time to work on shorter distance speed.

I rotate. New Balance RC Elite 2 for the marathon, Saucony Endorphin Speed for anything over a 5k up to a half marathon. Asics Novablast 2 and New Balance 1080v11 for easy paced runs.
