Besides the shiny exterior and harmonious society, you have extreme work demands, which have been set after WW2 to make these countries rich (South Korea, Japan, etc).

So they will engage in all the other options there are to reduce stress, and not relationships: Prostitution, videogames, and other escapism.
There is also a culture of not showing emotions and thus not complaining, and working enormously. So men are exhausted and frustrated. This is also why in Asia there is little crime, but when in occurs (like in Japan), you often have a man going AMOK and knifing people at random.
