Bill Gates says Covid risks have ‘dramatically reduced’ but another pandemic is coming

Bill Gates told CNBC Friday that the risks of severe disease from Covid-19 have “dramatically reduced”but another pandemic is all but certain.

Speaking at Germany’s annual Munich Security Conference, Gates said that a potential new pandemic would likely stem from a different pathogen.

Advances in medical technology could cut vaccine production times to six months, Gates added.

Even a high mortality would not make me take a new "vaccine", some people will survive without intervention and I trust my immune system. It's honestly frightening just how blindly they've taken their "trust the science" cult mantra. They really have no idea what the very thing they're espousingis, and clearly they have had their head in the sand for the past several months.

I mean, I just posed in another thread how these pharmaceutical companies were making backdoor agreements with national governments to indemnify themselves from adverse side effects, and there are countless articles on the subject out there already. Why would they need to strong arm entire governments to protect themselves from legal risks if there was simply no need for safety/efficacy studies and testing if mRNA was such a surefire thing? The companies themselves never even anticipated the "need" for boosters, i.e. the waning efficacy.

Maybe...I also think the vaccine has red pilled a bunch of people. It barely works, it's at best a temporary therapeutic, and it has a horrible side effect profile. A lot of people got it initially because they bought the "safe and effective" (tm). It's neither. I would expect a lot of people to opt out the next time around simply based on their observations on this one. A lot of people who got the jab aren't planning to get a booster.

Predicting there will be another pandemic when history is full of examples of past pandemics doesn't make someone evil, it's really just common sense. Especially when you realize the pitiful underinvestment in medical research, the continued unsanitary conditions in many parts of the world where zoonotic viruses and bacteria can flourish and leap to humans, and most recently the inane politicization of basic medical common sense.

Why even say it? There's no (that I can think of) positive reason to publicly announce the obvious. Gates isn't a scientist. He does not make policy. He's a profiteer.

Because he's trying to get governments and policymakers to get their heads out of their asses and invest a fraction in medical preparedness that they do in war spending.

He warned years ago that we were basically overdue for a major pandemic and outlined things that could be done to better prepare and nobody listened - "why should we listen to a software guy about medical topics? Go back to making Windows a horrible operating system." Etc.

Oh I agree that's what he is doing, I take issue with how he is doing it. Gates has the ear of any politician at any time of the day. I don't see his public statements doing anything other than causing panic and irrational behavior from citizens.

I agree but up to a point. The only way you get a politician's ear for anything meaningful to happen is to line their pockets with special interest money and campaign donations. Let's not pretend that the 99% of politicians are corrupt and self serving. The only real change that has happened in this world has come from the public leading the charge. Politicians just protect the status quo - very very very few are in politics because they want to make the world a better place.
