College is honestly not for those outside the top level.

Either world class universities or world class schools for a specialty, and military if not, makes sense for most people.

Immigrants have an advantage. On hiring and AA and ****. You have way more opportunity than impoverished Whites. They dream has died for many Americans

I had the "opportunity" to be raised in one of the worst ghettos in the US. I can tell you're just a loser, you'll make every excuse, your life will never get better, because you're too fuking stupid to get out of your own way. Just by being born in the US you've basically won the lottery, what a waste.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

If you are straight, white and male you have to work 2-3 times harder to get the same results. It's just the way it is now. No one said life was fair.

And I'n from Europe, not the US

Europe, where you don't even need to work. My boss is a straight white male who is younger than me and makes 3 times the amount of money I make.

College or no college is not the issue; the issue is the toxic myth that someone else prescribes your life purpose.

I went to college, but not for a typical life path or 9-5 career. My dream was to earn a PhD and not stop until I had succeeded because I was so passionate about the plethora of interesting topics I like to research. I tried stereotypical 9-5 jobs and they weren't for me. It took me 10 years from first day of undergrad to now, but I'm basically there, apart from the rigmarole of administration and final defence/examination etc.

I've got a few mates that became lawyers because they thought they "had" to become lawyers. All are miserable.
Back off, Warchild.

ya except you needed a phd to learn this if you did not attend a top undergrad. Most who attend Harvard undergrad or similar do not bother with Ph.D.s. They are invited to research in hedge funds or wherever from undergrad or during undergrad.

One thing I never liked about university was having professors who have only worked in academia.

I took finance and I had a phD in finance teaching me about finance lol Would rather have some guy who has actually worked in finance teach me - It's like I don't care about your theories on corporate finance you read from Modigliani and Miller I want someone teaching me who has actually worked in corp finance

Had a few profs who were part time and worked full time and those were always the best profs

It sucks but this is true. Just the way it is now.

It used to be that people generally stuck with their same job for life and got great benefits, regular raises and bonuses and retired early with a great pension and retirement.

Now you gotta switch jobs every year or two just to keep up with the inflation. I hate job hunting and having to go through all the interviews and trial periods and then have to get settled just to move again in a few years.

It used to be reality though. It used to be that the average person could just work hard at an average job and be able to buy a home, own a car or two, support a stay at home wife and a few kids and still take regular vacations.

Anyone denying this fact is being intentionally obtuse or is a Boomer.

I can confirm it absolutely sucks for straight white males right now. I'm looking for jobs because I can't get a raise and every single job right now is basically only hiring based on "diversity" or are hiring remote overseas or H1B.

Even my company now. When I started it was almost all white men but they all left and I'm basically the only one left. They've hired a bunch of "diverse" people who are very subpar at their job but got hired because "diversity is our strength". Most companies now have "Diversity Directors" and other bullchit positions that push this stuff. Corporations now have social credit scores called ESG ratings too based on how "woke" they are.

Id say its actually better to come out of college with a chit degree(because they make you take core classes for the first two years, which is important) and in debt then to have never gone to college at all.

Money can always be earned. But knowledge, nobody goes and seeks it outside of a higher education setting - I'm studying physics right now and the textbooks(I have several) are the thickest books I own. People avoid physics because 1. it's mathematical, 2. its very dense in subject matter. But the thing is - physics kept the American's from "conquering" Russia, back then and TODAY. Physics was also responsible for Saddams downfall.

Life is about PHYSICS mogging.

I am talking to an automotive engineer who's retired after 40 years and he physics mogged me in alot of our convos online. But after getting some education, I finally understand some of his statements. But he was PHYSICs mogging me the whole time.

Funny enough, he convinced me to attend college. Not even my own family could have convinced me to go.

Uhh a lot of people with degrees make $50k a year. It's the average US middle income. Not everyone is making $200k-$500k per year like on the Misc.

Non degree retail workers generally make around $30k per year

Salary workers with a degree make around $50k to $60k per year

Be realistic.. I know people who are 100k + in debt working dead end jobs. If your degree can't get you a decent post graduation, then it's not worth the time/effort regardless of how much you learn. At one point in my college career, I wanted to do social work because it was my "passion" to help people in need. Little did I know, that career paid peanuts even with a Master's degree. Passion can only take you so far... a lot of the time, it boils down to finding a decent paying job that can put food on the table.

Alright Ill try to be more objective. Tuition for KU in Kansas is around 60k. It is expensive because my nephew is going there. He's sitting at home right now(its barely 1 semester) because his parents couldn't come up with 15k.

I mean, if you can't land a job in your field of study with 100k worth of tuition, that's just terrible life decision in general.

But I still believe what I said. It's better to come out in debt than to have never gone to college. You are enriched with useful information and there's still a good chance to be hired - on the other hand is being stupid forever with zero possibility of being hired.

All that said, I've made going to CC cool again. My tuition was only 6k - all paid for by the gov.

State colleges like KU should be left to the kids with rich parents. In the end it doesn't really matter. Because the kids arn't paying with their own money, they don't value what they learn. So they aren't competitive in the job market and rely on nepotism and connection.

The apprenticeships give you the experience. You can also show up to the local in person and sign up. I had someone on the inside so I didnt have to wait but the wait times can be over a year or two since ****s refuse to retire once they are useless and just milk the job for all it's worth

I'm older than you by 4 years.

Of course, I'm just going by what I know. Motivation plays a huge role in life. People who live comfortable lives aren't competitive to people with motivation and drive. That's basic psychology. I know this first hand because when I made a small amount of money, I thought I was going to be set and I can see that my mind changed completely. I didn't want to do anything other than just be lazy.

That's why I can say I got more out of just 1 semester of CC than most people who went to 4 years at a state college paying 60-100k. I just have more drive, determination, hunger, resentment, and motivation. Motivation doesn't come out of thin air.

lol @ anti-education MISC'ers.

Everyone brah I know making 100K+ has a college degree. Some tradies make bank... but most make chite money and need to drink and take pills to forget it and use survivorship bias to fool you into thinking they are all rolling in money with their leased trucks and opioid addictions.

Also lol @ using rappers as a metric for success. You still in high school homie?
