SPY, an S&P 500 ETF, is one of my main holdings. Imagine it will be a ruff year for SPY but I'm planning on it doing well in the future.

VOO (and VTI a bit) saved my portfolio when crypto started to dip. I ended up closing my account on webull, but I still made positive gains overall thanks to VOO. Overall S&P 500 investments are about as slow and steady as you can get when it comes to investments. Historically speaking.

IMO - yes but don't buy in all at once. spread out your big buy to small buys once a month for a year or so. and make sure it's money you don't need for 10+ years. and make sure you can sleep at night.

OP a large, well diversified stock fund is a great core holding for your investments. S&P 500 index funds are fine, as are total US stock market funds. As a secondary stock fund consider an international index fund of some kind. How much you put where is dependent on when you need the money and your risk tolerance. As far as market timing goes - forget it. If you're in it for the long term then timing is a fools game. Dollar cost averaging (buying shares over time to get into a position) is a good thing to do but really only matters if your talking real money - something north of 50K. If you're talking 1K, 5K, 10K, etc then you might as well buy your position all at once and then just don't look at it for a year. In that case it's much better to purchase funds that you can get at a better cost, for example buying Vanguard Admiral shares in a fund as opposed to buying standard shares as the admiral shares have lower expenses.

All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. Realistically if you're in crypto and you still have to ask questions like "Is an S+P 500 Index fund a good investment?" you probably shouldn't be invested in anything. At all. You need to research and understand how the market works and just investing 101.

You have to plan to dollar/cost average or you're going to end up fukked. Nobody can time the market unless they have access to information far behind what we'll ever have.

Generally works though and there's examples like AAPL where 2018 ATH buy would still have you triple your money by today. DCA'ing in is much better, i.e. 25% initially, if it drops by 10% add another 25%, if it drops 30%+ add all your bag.Yesterday better than today. Today better than tomorrow.

As you should have noticed, crypto moves pretty much with the NASDAQ.
Crypto now acts like a volatile tech stock.
