Kind of obvious isn't it? Overreliance on technology for the smallest of tasks makes people's brains less trained to deal with them. I can't tell you how many middle school students can't do simple math problems without the use of a calculator or can't write an essay on paper without making numerous grammatical/spelling mistakes.

Sure, we have smartphones and internet....but innovation is now stagnating and in decline. I'd also say technology such as smartphones and social media are contributing to the decline in intelligence in general.

Kids and young people these days can't do math in their head like before. People don't read books. They have much shorter attention spans. You can look up stuff quickly on your phone or computer, but memorizing and thinking of more complex abtract ideas is declining.

Technology has made it easier to be stupid and survive. While IQ is a real thing and some people are a lot more capable than others mentally, some are faster than others, and there are some who have handicaps, but I do believe that stupidity is for the most part a choice. You choose not to think, not to figure things out, and it becomes a habit. There are a lot of people out there that there isn't much going on upstairs. They choose to do whatever feels the best here and now, and they do whatever takes the least amount of effort.

People like t hat have always existed but the growing amount of empathy for these people is where the infection really festers. It's like cancer cells happen, but what if your immune system felt bad for the cancer cells because tehy are just different and didn't fight them? You'll be dead in no time and that's what's happening. The better half of society has too much empthaty for these idiots. About technology, it has allowed people to interact and help these people without actually having to associate with them because if they had to deal with someone face to face their empathy would fade pretty fast.

Case in point: GF hires some chick and her husband to move some equipment. SRS about 1.5-2hrs of work top, paid them $300 and gave them half up front. She was happy because she was looking for people to help her move equipment on a regular basis. Soon after getting the money they wanted to go get drinks (gatorade or something) because we didn't have anything here and we were like okay. They left and never came back. Made some excuse about a death in the family. We told them to give back the money and they said they would but didn't have it because they had to put it towards rent. I remembered their plate numbers and so we made a police report. So now they are being charged and it might be a mistermenor but I guess he's on probation for DUI so now he might be actually going to prison over it. She called my GF begging her to drop charges. Said we were ruining her life and now her baby is suffering. Another one was this guy I worked with that got a job that was honestly too good for him but used his position to steal from the company, got caught, and is now facing federal charges.
