Would the RKO work in a real fight?

It seems like one of the few wrestling moves that would be practical in like, a bar fight?

Yeah, I don't know. Seems like you would need an awful amount of space and the exact circumstances to even attempt to pull it off.

How would that be practical in the chaos of a bar fight, with limited space, flashing lights, dank atmosphere, other people rushing in, thrown chairs etc.?

No, as someone who's worked in bars and clubs before, quickest way to end a violent confrontation is to use a RNC. Get it locked in properly and the target is out in 7-8 seconds. Or a guillotine if you can't get behind them, triangle if you're on the ground etc.
Back off, Warchild.

No. Belly to back (German) suplex could work.
Tomb stone would work and also kill your opponent
Ankle lock
DDT
Sidewalk slam
Cross face
Camel clutch
Sleeper hold

All of those would work but take too much setting up against an uncooperative opponent. Hence it's best to default to winging overhand rights lol

Idk I don’t see any possible way a triangle could be the most effective use of your positioning. If you are on side control or mount, why the fuk would you try it. If you have them in guard for some insane reason, you have a very very high chance of just getting slammed into the ground.

It's been ages since I've done any jitz, like literally over a decade, so take this with a grain of salt. If I was in side control, I might attempt to move into a RNC position. Mount, if I was not restrained by law due to actually being employed at the bar, I'd probably just G & P.

I just prefer and swear by chokes because once you lock it in, it's a guaranteed way to end a fight quickly, whereas if you prolong it with strikes you run the real risk of legal chit down the road.

RNC is a bog-standard technique for security to end a violent situation if it gets too out of hand. Nowhere did I say I learned RNC in a bar. I learned it when I trained in Muay Thai/BJJ.

That's one of the worst things you can do as a bouncer to try to control a situation.

of all your stupid claims, this might be the worst

If someone is physically attacking you, punches are flying and they've really lost control, and the spectrum of force-escalation has ascended beyond arm restraint etc. that is one of the quickest ways to end it. Sure, there's always the legal morass of rendering someone unconscious--because it can kill someone-- but I'm simply saying it's a quick way to end a violent altercation if lower-scale stuff has failed.

Seems like you just followed me from the R/P to try and troll me anyway; you've got no counter-argument here, haven't explained yourself at all, and are just making lazy one-liners. Got anything else, or are we done here?

EDIT: Did you seriously just go and tell your other non-lifting e-friends in the R/P about this? Holy mother of cringe. Jesus.

You described a fracas with chairs being thrown.

1. keep your head on a swivel - limited with any choke... i mean jesus, you even mentioned the potential of chairs being thrown and you think these are good ideas?

2. you're using both hands - can't defend yourself when the guy you're choking out's friends see you doing it and come after you.

3. if you do put him under, you now have an unconscious patron on the floor in the middle of chaos, enjoy the lawsuit that comes after that one.

You might have an argument here if a bouncer ran into a fracas with no backup whatsoever, but any bouncer who did that would have bigger issues beyond RNC technique. Namely, he would just be plain stupid. Your post assumes there is no backup, and defending yourself when you're outnumbered by multiple attackers is nearly always a no-win situation no matter what technique you're applying or how skilled a fighter one is.

You're just trading in hypotheticals anyway so it's kind of worthless nitpicking every word I say here. Unless you're trolling me.

Leaving a patron right there on the floor is a hazard yes, that is why if you can, try and drag him to a corridor or away from the chaos if you're going to put him out. And course lawsuits are a possibility if you need to apply a RNC, but that's a perennial issue with that line of work.

Filing this one way as a bad attempt at trolling, and especially cringed when you went and told the R/P non-lifters about this. Jesus, man.

That makes zero sense. You especially would not be choking patrons out if you had backup.

Point is, YOUR hypothetical described chaos and locking in holds is horrible idea during chaos.

And yeah, we tell each other when you say stupid chit cause it's hilarious and you're known for deleting your most embarrassing posts.

That's why I said drag him to a corridor or away from the chaos if you need to put him out. This is assuming milder restraints have failed. I also don't recall saying the choke was even a good idea, but we're talking about a dangerous fight here where you might have to pick the lesser of two evils. You haven't described your ideal way of handling the situation, either. If you think choking is a bad idea, standing there and going toe-to-toe with him is an even worse one. That'll prolong the fight and then you really run the risk of turning into the aggressor.

The post isn't about the legalities of bouncing so much as it is a simple comment about how chokes are a better way of ending a violent altercation than striking.

Anyway, sounds like you're microanalyzing my post trying to make a farcical accusation and find a boogeyman who simply isn't there. Nor do I recall or see any evidence I deleted an "embarrassing " post. Like I said, sounds a lot like trolling and more BS accusations.

There is no ideal way of handling it, you have to assess each individually and rely on experience to make the right decision, but within chaos, it's not going to be a choke or even any other hold cause at that point all your focus is on one individual.

If you ever were a bouncer, you were not a good one.

I agree there is no ideal way of handling it because fights are chitty situations to be in, period. Especially if you're outnumbered. All I'm saying is that if it comes to that point and you need to end it, other restraints have failed, you're at the right level on the force-escalation, a choke is a preferable option to going toe-to-toe with the guy and trading punches. You seriously saying a bouncer has never done this?

I think you brought your internet-beef from another forum to the fray and didn't give me enough benefit of the doubt or leeway for interpretation. Sounds like you thought a RNC was my first port of call for any troublesome situation and that isn't what I said at all. In fact, I always said if you end a confrontation without violence that's the best thing to do. Run away always, if you can.

Anyway, laters. I think we've overcomplicated OP's thread.

Bouncer for ten years and never once did I choke someone nor would I tolerate anyone on my crew to choke someone out during a chaotic situation.

Because you're making the situation worse.

I don't even disagree that a choke can make a situation worse, because it can certainly do that. I'm sure we've both heard too many stories of a bouncer killing someone after holding a choke too long. It's derpingly obvious but rendering someone unconscious is always effing dangerous. But bouncers have also killed people with punches and tackles, too.

Might end it here, but I don't see any refutation of my point that a choke is a better option than going toe-to-toe with the guy and trading punches or OP's idea of body slam etc. You jumped the gun on the fraud accusation because you brought your internet beef into another forum. Pretty childish, man.

EDIT: Actually, how do I know you're not a fraud? For all I know you could be a keyboard warrior simply making chit up. The fact you went and told the non-lifting trolls in the R/P backs that up, no?

EDIT: Actually, how do I know you're not a fraud? For all I know you could be a keyboard warrior simply making chit up. The fact you went and told the non-lifting trolls in the R/P backs that up, no?
I've posted in here about bouncing numerous times over the years.

Again, ten years as a bouncer and never threw a punch. That is/was a big no-no and only the absolute last resort.

A choke is a horrible idea has nothing to do with what you might do to the person, I'm not even considering that aspect. I told you why it's a bad idea - you put yourself in an unsafe position, you are not able to watch/protect/assist the rest of your crew and the patrons, and you're now trying to get control of a chaotic situation by focusing on one individual. It's a horrible strategy and it shouldn't be used in the type of situation you described.

All these downsides are all arguably present during a one-on-one with the guy, too. You keep forgetting I'm assuming other methods have failed and thisisa last resort. And unsafe position? It's a fight, man. Safe isn't part of a vocabulary to use here.

And focusing on one individual isn't always a terrible idea. Say you're not at last resort options yet: If you can single out the main aggressor and get him away from the fracas that would actually be an excellent way of dealing with the situation. Were you not taught that in your training?

EDIT: That's great you never had to throw a punch. A good bouncer should be able to defuse or handle nearly any situation without violence. What you don't see is me saying otherwise. And if you've posted about bouncing, so have I. It's there in my post history.

You'll see I never described myself as an alpha-warrior in those posts. You'll see I actually talk about how I hated the job and really wasn't cut out for it because it was dangerous and underpaid. I think a fraud would have described himself as the ultimate ninja-warrior who picked up HB10s every night of work.
Back off, Warchild.

Seriously.

theoretically.....wrapping your arms around someone's neck and bringing them to the ground with speed, smashing them to the floor, would really hurt. especially when you're 6'5 and 245 pounds like Randy Orton.

but if you're not him, you're going to look like an idiot and it's not going to work or be effective. especially in a "bar fight" where space is an issue, other people are around, chairs and glasses and stuff everywhere etc
