And focusing on one individual isn't always a terrible idea. Say you're not at last resort options yet: If you can single out the main aggressor and get him away from the fracas that would actually be an excellent way of dealing with the situation. Were you not taught that in your training?
Holy chit you really don't know what you're talking about nor do you understand what I've been saying.

You don't go one on one with anyone during these things. You're job is not to fight people your job is to deescalate.

The most effective way to do so is putting space between people actually fighting while not engaging with either.

And no, if there is a primary aggressor, he's the last to go. Because i can deescalate the periphery and then the primary faster than the primary and then the periphery.
Seriously, do they ecen train you in this chit in kangarooland?

I never said the job was to fight people. I agree completely the job is to de-escalate. Where do I actually dispute that? You're really looking for a boogeyman here, man. And we're derailing OP's thread massively with this overanalysis.

you keep making comparisons between ways to engage with an individual during a chaotic barfight.

OP doesn't realise that the person taking the move falls on purpose lol. In a real fight core and leg strength will massively overpower the awkward grip you have around his neck and you'd just fall HARD on your ass or back onto concrete floor and disable yourself.

I guess it's still real to you though dammit

Yeah man we often let each other know when you're embarrassing yourself.

Hey, if you use an RNC in a bar fight, what do you have to consider that you don't while training or a competition?

Well, FWIW, I have never heard of the strategy of leaving the primary aggressor for last. Everything I ever heard says the opposite: Get the primary aggressor out ASAP because he is the main reason and source for the conflict. And yeah, I obviously realize a RNC in a real fight has extra elements not involved in training or comp.

Ok so what are you forgetting when suggesting to to use an rnc in a barfight?

Or even more to the point, a guillotine because it's even more obvious to someone without experience?

You've conflated two situations I described. Getting the primary aggressor out with milder restraints was a different situation, and by far the preferable one.

I dunno man, I've just never heard of any security or MA teaching which trains you to leave the primary aggressor for last.

There was a low level WMMA prelim fight on UFC a few weeks back where a girl was locked in a RNC and she legit tried to claw the other girls eyes out. The other girl tried to bury her face in the back of her head to protect her eyes. She tapped shortly after though. Dont think we will be seeing that cheating POS again

I'm not conflating, I'm picking apart your different arguments.

You leave the primary aggressor because the problems tend to stay in their vicinity, the periphery spreads out. Keep the situation contained.

Come on, man. This is death by hypotheticals. What do I need to consider in a real fight and not in training or comp? Everything!

Headbutting. Eye gouging like he said. Biting. Hair pulling. Groin attacks. Someone could smash a bottle on my head. Spitting. Fish hooks. Shirt grabbing. Someone could stab or glass me. Someone could pull a gun. A million other things.

Tbf to counter that argument, your average joe isn't going to think to gouge the eyes. Panic will set in and they will do what every other untrained guy would do. Use both hands to grab at the forearm around the neck. Which as we know doesnt work.
Here we go

Well yeah, that's a dumb A F chump move. I learned a few chokehold escapes which start with a groin attack to create some space/breathing room, then turning the choke into your own suplex by grabbing the legs.

But real-tea, however, I think once a decent choke is locked in for the most part one must accept they're F'ed.

likely, but if you catch a guy that has been in a fight/knows how to keep his cool, there's a good chance you'll get your finger broken.

Whats the scenario? IRL I'd guesstimate 1% of the male population has any kind of fight training at all and even less know anything about grappling/submissions and how to escape them.

I've seen it more than a handful of times. It doesn't have to be fight experience, it's just the ability to keep a cool head under pressure and think your way through.

I've never seen someone get a choke in immediately, it takes enough time to get it set it to give people time to react

If Randy orton applied a chinlock there’s not a damn miscer sitting the face of the earth who’s going to escape it.

- Most pro-wrestling submission moves wouldn't work (ie, sharpshooter, figure-four, Style lock). The rear-naked chokehold and its variations (ie, chinlock) is an obvious exception
- Any of those moves that involve you also dropping (RKO, stunner) would break your tailbone and possibly your lower back
- You'd break your own kneecaps, elbows, ribs, chin and teeth if you tried a Miz crushing finale
- A Styles-clash, tombstone or pedigree would work in a real fight, in the sense they would assuredly kill your opponent

I remember back in the late 90's my friends and I would practice finishing wrestling moves on each other. Lol good times

Lmao would be hilarious to see someone actually use a wrestling finishing move from the WCW/WWF days in public during a fight.

Imagine walking out in public minding your own business, and you see someone yelling, because he's about to be finished with this? Lool.

Or someone yelling help, because they're receiving the torture rack
