God of War Ragnarok PS5, PS4 Still Pegged to Release This Year

Horizon Forbidden West is out now – check our Horizon Forbidden West guide – and Gran Turismo 7 is right around the hairpin bend, which means Sony’s attention will eventually have to transition to God of War Ragnarok. The title’s largely been kept undercover to allow PlayStation to focus its attention on the aforementioned PlayStation 5 and PS4 exclusives, but with few other titles in the organisation’s immediate pipeline, the spotlight will need to shift eventually.

Some fans have pondered, however, whether Kratos and Atreus’ adventure will even arrive in 2022 as planned. As part of an innocuous post on Reddit’s Gaming Leaks and Rumours community, one fan pondered whether the title could be pushed back – but respected Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier parachuted in with a one word answer, “Nope.”

Now it’s unclear whether Schreier is sharing his personal or professional opinion here, but he’s a well-connected writer who’s presumably heard a thing or two about the project’s progress. None of that rules out a delay entirely, of course – plans can always change behind-the-scenes – but it seems like the hotly anticipated sequel is sailing straight for the time being. This is shaping up to be a huge year for PlayStation Studios, isn’t it?

Playing GOW 2018 for the first time right now and loving it. The game got a lot of hate so was hesitant but so far it's one of my favorite PS exclusives.

did it get a lot of hate outside a couple odd people here? I thought it was overwhelmingly positive reviews from both critic and players.

It was probably my favorite game on ps4.

It was probably my favorite game on ps4.
It got a lot of complaints from a lot of people here.

It was 10/10 all around by critics, Gamespot gave it a 9/10. I posted every positive critic score it 2-3 days leading upto the launch to which haters who never intended to play the game said it was all just pure Sony cel dick sucking hype. I was a huge cheerleader for the Game so needless to say I gave it a fair shot.

People who were disappointed by it are all gamers who played the original trilogy. In the end most fans of the saga as a whole just have legit gripes about it.

Pretty sure it was just mostly fans of the original series that didn't like it. The new one is certainly a bit of a departure of the originals. Looking forward to rocking this one on my PS4.

I’m playing uc legacy now. It’s enthralling I don’t know why i gave it a pass last gen. But I’d put sifu on hold for gow ragnorak. I’m anxious as hell, yo Ron you safe in that cell be thankful it’s jail.

God of War for the PS4 simply continued the trend that dominated the entire PS4 scene; cinematic style action games. People who love that direction for games loved it per usual. Classic God of War games were more of a beat-em-up, and naturally a lot of the PS2 era fans didn't vibe with the PS4 era fans.

Plus we are at the point where media that is beloved by critics and industries aren't exactly fan favorites.

it better be.. if not imagine of Horizon was the only exclusive coming out this year.... GT7 is too niche to count.

If there's no other GOW game this gen I hope SSM gives a FPS a try, would be interesting to see what they can do in another genre.

Meanwhile , OP gets pegged every day.

Really hoping for some improvements to the formula because I was one of those who didn't feel the game was a masterpiece.

The main story, the dad/son dynamic and lore saved the game for me. Combat was okay, visuals great. I was definitely expecting more though so it was like a 7.5 I'd say.

Haven't been disappointed by any God Of War, they're all so good.
GoW 's combat was different than its predecessor but was still fun. GoW 3 is the best one.
Cannot wait for Gow5

Bloodborne is supposed to be the best PS4 game but I tried I’m not into that type of game, or Witcher 3. God of war is commonly said to be too.
