How many kids do you want?

I think the ideal number is 3. I’d want two sons and a daughter

My grandparents neighbors have 5 daughters and one son ranging from 1-16yo seems like too much

I feel the same way. Part of me thinks I shouldn’t bother having any, but I know that I’m a nurturer and I’d end up bitter if I didn’t have kids.

I just want to make sure I have a good foundation for them first: own my own home, earn decent money, find a great woman etc. I’ll most likely be moving somewhere quiet and I’d most likely have the kids homeschooled as I wouldn’t want my kids indoctrinated. Ideally you find a few likeminded families and have all the kids homeschooled together.

Planned on 4. Have 5. No regrets. Well, that's not entirely true but close enough.

It's just good to keep in mind that the world is not made for big families. More than two kids and your family won't fit in a sedan (or a hotel room). Seven is the maximum for most minivans/suvs. Any more and you're in a full size van.

Yeah, done. Also, 41 not 52, never been able to figure out the age thing, but I'm not an ancient dad.

Wife and I always planned/wanted 4 kids, but #4 was stillborn at full term (another boy, would have been 9 this year). Wife thought maybe we were done at that point, but I'm not a quitter, I guess. If we were going to have another, she wanted two so the younger kids would have a sibling closer in age to play with. That's the short version, anyway.

Still, lots of good places to raise a family. I think it's harder than it used to be to find a good place, but they are out there. I grew up in the country myself (Idaho). We moved around doing school and my first job, but we've been back in the country for the last several years and I've been grateful we made it back before Covid.

Fuk man! Where in Idaho? My grandparents live in the mountains outside sandpoint, I love visiting there. Actually considering moving there. So many things to do outdoors and great hunting and fishing

Sounds morbid but settling for one child is not ideal. What if your first born turns out to be a fuk up, a junkie, mentally disabled or dies young? You need to have at least 2 to ensure your legacy is safe.

I would absolutely love Sandpoint. Northern Idaho is so good for all the outdoor opportunities. I'm in the southeast part of the state, which is still good, but not nearly as good as the north. Mostly ended up where I am because that's where my extended family is. Being close to family is so so worth it for raising kids. My parents are fantastic and it has been so good for my kids to have another set of positive influences in their lives.

North Idaho is heaven srs. Beautiful views, no traffic, friendly people, no libs (except for all the Californians moving there)
