Why didn't Ukraine do this from the get go while their border was surrounded? needless posturing and deaths.

however, now whatever govt has to worry about rebels and guerrila warfare (aka religion of peaceniks strategy)

IRA is a more relevant comparison given the secular nature of the conflict.

Idk, they probably didn't think NATO would anger Russia by militarizing Ukraine then just abandon them in the cold. Kind of a dick move.

I would imagine Russia is demanding Zelensky GTFO, Zelensky is purposely dragging this on trying to buy time. Hmmm… Putin would need to install a puppet instead, but Zelensky will try to stay.

This sounds like what happened to Georgia in 2008. It was a 4-day war that Georgia lost militarily (including land - South Ossetia) and economically and they eventually capitulated to Russia's demands and installed a pro-Russia government. I think the same fate will befall Ukraine.

guess it depends on what happens - and im talking about the "ceasefire" and "talking"

to start it and not completely dismantle and steamroll everything seems a bit of a loss

would he really start this and think about "talking" if there weren't good resistance? i mean think about it. rephrased, if there were little resistance i dont see why he'd take the time to invade and then talk. he'd just go in and take it. i think america plays world police as #1 superpower but i dont think it makes sense for a subsidiary power

that's my opinion anyways. i dont see taking those drastic measures then stopping halfway if that

was ukraine worth the trouble? were the direct losses worth the trouble? is the hatred russia now faces from everybody else worth the trouble? were the sanctions worth the trouble, etc., etc.

the demands russia made tbh if im ukraine id take them. they give up those territories russia wanted in the first place, as well as cannot be armed by west any longer.
