The convoy really was a failure of leadership. They never presented a leader, or group, that the government would under any circumstances engage with, as doing so would give serious flakes credibility. They had community leaders and legitimate business people on board, those people would have gotten a meeting, but I am guessing weren't extreme enough. And who, raise your hands here, thought Trudy would negotiate on mandates? HAHAHAHAHA, that's literally as low IQ as a functioning human being can be. Then there's the whole 'derp hold the line derp', when they could have moved a few blocks and still been there today, instead of bumming dimes and turning tricks for their bus fare back home.

It definitely could have turned out better for them.

All the organizers have been charged and three of four are still in jail, being refused bail. The only reason the fourth got it is because he said he'd go straight home and put up his house as a surety. The others don't have any assets, surprise surprise.

Some of the trucks have been picked up from impound, but only after paying thousands in fines and fees. And of course, those truckers won't be able to drive their rigs commercially anymore more than likely.

There's still a handful of people hanging out in Arnprior and Greely (about 45 minutes out of Ottawa) and a group came in on the weekend with their flags and freedom chants while there were people protesting in front of the Russian embassy. The Russian protests were a couple of thousand strong but had no violence, no noise, rocks through windows, and no businesses shut due to staff being threatened. Go figure.

We ran into this problem of circularity all the time, of media saying something, police then saying, well the news is saying it, then the media saying, well the police said it.”
Reality on the ground was often not being reported. While Ottawa police often announced they had made a number of arrests during the Freedom Convoy protests, they never mentioned that many incidents were called in by truckers after people slit their tires or cut gas lines, Wilson said. Police also negotiated with truckers as to which streets they would be allowed to block during the protest. When things heated up, the police blocked off Laurier Avenue to prevent east-west traffic flow even though there was not one truck or protest vehicle on that street.
