Depends on what you're gonna use it for. If it's anti-person then any of your usual self defense handguns are fine. If you're going somewhere with big predators to worry about, then something different. If you're going to use it to hunt small game, then something else.

Since I don't know the purpose, I think the best all around gun for camping is a 357 mag revolver. The 357 mag has a great history against people, you can load up heavy soft point rounds for 4 legged predators and to hunt things like deer, and you can put mild 38 special solid rounds in for hunting small game like squirrels.

No .357 here. I’ll probably just keep my Glock 20 back there.

Won't it get hot as chit in the bed of a truck during the summer?

I live in Alaska so it gets maybe 70-75 and my topper has sliding windows with screens. Battery fan and you’re good

Absolutely cannot beat a good 12G Shotgun loaded with buckshot. There is a reason the Germans wanted them banned by the Geneva Convention. Nothing better at stopping a threat instantly especially in close quarters and if it's out of range of a shotgun it's not legal SD anyways.

12 gauge shotgun with buckshot. That should help you sleep at night. I always keep one in my camper. Also good for bears, which I have a perfectly reasonable fear of.

Same although I'd try to scare off a bear and only shoot as a last resort.

I keep my 835 Mossy, 3.5 inch Mags under back seat when I go. Never had to use it tho... woods bears usually take off by yelling at them around here.

Main truck weapon: Pistol grip tac. shot gun.







Pistol will be more than enough and can handle any reasonable distance shot if you're in a bind. But since your in a truck bed, you also want the shotgun to spray the entire entrance incase there are multiple people.

I have one of the original Magnum Research Israeli 50 cal desert eagles, it is one of the most worthless firearms i've shot. Jams all the time because of the dumb action it uses, rounds are expensive, heavy, loud and has too much stopping power to use in home defense.

just get a 12 gauge with buckshot, that will stop anything that comes towards you

It can only be properly wielded by those worthy…particularly high test. If it jams all the time, your grip is weak, srs.
