Also, if Putin wasn't such a dictatorial retard, he could have long ago lead Russia out of their backwater status, played nice in the sandbox and peacefully achieved 10x more than he's hoping to through this invasion. Russia could have turned things around and been a prosperous European nation and good world citizen and gotten the respect they want so badly. And his neighbors would never have thought of needing to join NATO at all.

Instead, they are locked into the same old corrupt Russian patterns and mindset. It's sad, really.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Ukraine hit the ship with one of their snazzy nato supplied missiles to Russia for it

So basically we're unable to share interesting info about the ongoing situation here or have any useful discussion because Russian shill and notorious troll memcop and his merry band of Russian shills aren't going to allow us to and are instead going to troll and flamebait the hell out of the thread so much so that it becomes useless.

It's sad that this forum cannot be admin'd any better than this.

Wouldn't doubt it's also about a bunch of internal politics and historical Russian KGB level maneuvering to see who winds up the next dysfunctional Russian leader and who gets a bullet in some prison.

90% of what Soviet / Russian leaders have always done is simply to stay in power.
Discard geopolitics? Engage murderous combat?

You don't think this would happen without known consequences?

So no potential to weigh action versus consequence in this at all?

I think it pretty clear that Russia thinks this is worth it

You seem to think my thinking Putin is a retard means I think his opponents aren't. Critical thinking flaw. You can assume I think otherwise when I make proactive comments about Ukrainians.

Between the ex-Soviet countries and the Middle East, it's like a bunch of miscers going on tilt in a R&P thread.

yup. it was going to happen too before 2014. russia and eu had some sort of agreement for russias ascension to the union... but that quickly evaporated after crimea.

from what i know there was enough talks about russia joining NATO at one point, but good old Putin did not want to go through the nato application process because he believed that was beneath the mighty Russia.

it is kinda sad when you think about it. the majority of russian people do want to be closer to the rest of europe and north america, he just wont let them.

Honestly probably nothing on the end of NATO besides the usual condemnation/sanctions and waging a smear campaign against Lukashenko. I was thinking just more in a pure military context and less geopolitics. How it would alter the current order of battle if the western front got busy... Relatively quiet so far for now

Where did I say that? Russian leaders do a lot of questionable stuff that they think is justified or will keep them in power or whatever. I dunno, I don't think like a corrupt dysfunctional tyrant so who even knows how he balances the risk vs. reward.

from what i understand, there isnt much going on in ukrainains western side. low populations, not many cities. nothing too relevant in terms of a military objective.

i doubt we will see much fighting on the western front at all during this. they just need to take kyiv and kharkiv, if they do that, this is over.

Sincere questions here:

Do you believe that America / Israel and its allies have parlayed any form of influence over Ukrainian politics and policy since 2010?
