I'm listening to Influence now and it's a really good book.

Pretty much an extra book to incorporate fearlessness…good read but not needed. Has some autobiography of 50 cent’s past

I've been lurking misc during early 2010s, typical teenager trying to learn to be a man. A lot of threads were helpful and inspire to live life fully (beauu's diary posting for me lol), but I think misc doesn't compare to Fastlane forum in helpfulness. Current misc is bad. I signed up for the university/education crew, but it was dead even before the misc closed. A PUA forum I used to lurk together with the misc is much better in terms of positivity and lack of political trolls, maybe thanks to not having misc's notoriety.
Yeah cars forums are always cool, especially if it's a local community.
What do you think about Unscripted, Demarco's new book? Read it/gonna read it?
Actually I haven't check fastlane forum in years. Maybe last time was 2016-17, I bet it's still good though.

I haven't read unscripted. I googled his new book (Didnt realise he had just released one) but the reviews were saying if you've read fastlane, you've read that one. And it was the same stuff but with more ranting in it and him going off on one. Have you read it?
I've read quite a few books and I've noticed with self improvement theyre usually either about;
sparking motivation
developing or becoming aware of good habits and bad habits and switching them out for each other
prioritising stuff that's works with your long term goals
I'm at the point now where I'm hyper aware of all my habits and actions and I have a business model where I know it will take me to the point where I've made enough money to buy everything I want (at the moment) and retire early - but for some weird AF reason - there are some days where I literally can't be fked at all and all I want to do is the things that are completely unproductive but immediately enjoyable (like smoking green or playing video games, or drinking wine at home with the wife in the evening etc). I don't know why it's like that, but I'm 100% getting better as time goes on. I think it must just be a maturity thing too. You start realising what's important and what's worth spending more time and less time on (and the people and environment you surround yourself with).
I'm not sure what i'm hoping to find in a new book. Something that just kicks my ass / slap me in the face and highlights the importance of getting stuff done right now / eliminating the chit out of bad habits.
I think it doesn't help that things have always worked out pretty well for me, so I have a lot of trust in the timing of my life + dont want to live like a monk forever and it's good to have some kind of balance - but maybe balance doesn't produce excellence? I Dont know.

I time block things on Google Calendar so I know if my alarm goes off and I slide the task an hour further in the future then if it overlaps other tasks then I know I wont get it done.I read this really interesting productivity technique called Pomodoro Timer.
The idea is that you do work for 20-25 minutes and then you take a 5-minute active break (ex. walk, jog, push ups, pull-ups, body weight squats etc) and then you get back to work.
And this might make you laugh, but I read somewhere that dipping your scrotum in ice water/ice bath for 3-5 minutes in the morning, before working out, or before sexual activity greatly increases your energy level.

I remember cycling with friends in Spain and there was this MASSIVE mountain we had to cycle up. I said to one of my friends please tell me we arent cycling up that - and he started laughing. I remember it seemed to take forever to go up it. At one point I looked down off the hill and saw some of our other friends looking like ants still at the bottom. It was 6000ft of climbing. When you saw the mountain at the bottom of the hill it looked impossible to go up - but just by breaking it down into small chunks it was manageable and fun. Kept telling myself "i'll just get to that next corner" and it was fine.
I think that's something big I learned from 2021. I would set MASSIVE yearly goals/tasks. Some of my goals for business I know i wont be able to complete for 3-5 years and it can get overwhelming then I get put off. So i break them down into Monthly/Weekly/Daily actions using SMART goal techniques and reward myself in positive ways for achieving them.

For some reason the small part in the book mentioning how Vietnam vets were addicted to heroin when they came back yetvery easily kicked the habit as soon as they came back to the states, was what stood out to me the most.
Leaving the environment is crucial to kicking addictions and bad habits
Aside from that I have a dozen other self help books I haven't read yet. I bought Jocko Willinks book, but haven't gotten to it yet. I will say I really dug Jordan Petersons two books; Rules for Life and Beyond Order

Some people have said elsewhere in interviews (maybe joe rogan?) Imagine as if your life is a video game - or if in 5 years time you are SUPER successful and wealthy in every area of your life and a TV crew are following you around before youve made it to see how you live etc. Would you be playing call of duty or World of Warcraft smoking weed 12 hours a day and eating pizza - or whatever it is you do? No absolutely not!
Find your fire! For me, it's I really don't want to let my future kids down and I want to have the ability to be retired before theyre born, so that all my work I do is because I want to - not because I need to. That way I can spend loads of time with them and give them full attention / play sports with them / go on cool holidays with them. I'd also like to leave multi-generational wealth and have it so that my kids didnt have to pick what they wanted to do for a career based on the money it makes - rather the happiness/enjoyment it gives them.

Even the bosses apart from the owner seemed to struggle financially and all had drug/drink problems. It was a toxic place). My immediate boss was barely EVER there. Literally maybe 1 day every 2 weeks he'd come in because he was always fkd up on drugs (srs) and then he came in one day and told me if i didnt work harder and close more deals he'd have to fire me which was BS.How the fuark do you go about starting a business while working a 9-5? I am eager to leave but I barely find time to do anything after work/lifting/
That was about 2 months before I left to hand my notice in.
From then on, I started working on my own business/ideas from 6am to 8am and got in bang on 9am. then did the bare minimum at work so that it wasn't noticed, but that I wasn't using up my energy on pointless crap. Then I'd get home go to the gym and from like 8pm to 1am I'd work on my stuff again.
In the first month of setting up my business I made £25K and figured if I could make that in the evenings, then what if I gave it full 100% effort and time. I made over my yearly full time salary in the evenings in one month lmao - so it was a no brainer. When I handed my notice in my bosses were telling me that 98% of all new businesses failed in their first year and it was the biggest mistake of my life to leave them.
News flash: it was absolutely the best thing I've ever done in my entire life.
My tips on that for you would be, minimise your energy at work. Think of ideas that interest you, or things that you are good at - or can start learning more of - and then start a business in the evenings/weekends. When you make more than your monthly full time job income (E.g. you make $2K at work, then when you make over $2K in evenings in your new thing) then quit. Don't quit straight away if you dont know what you wanna do because you will be stressed about making money to pay the bills and it could lead you to make bad/rushed decisions (unless youve got a huge lump sum in the bank)
Edit: ffs honestly - again I've lost so much of what I'm trying to write. I actually cant be bothered with this forum anymore until they fix the constant errors. It's impossible to have any kind of lengthy conversation with anyone. Hit me up in PMs if you guys wanna chat though
