I don't because I hate/fear needles. I also feel like a huge POS for not donating.

Never donated Blood, but I was donating Plasma 2x/week for a couple months. They were running a promotion where you got $1000 for 10 donations then $65/per for as long as you want.

Get up at 5am, at the donation center from 6-7:30, at work by 8am on Tuesdays & Fridays. Made like $1700 and was laying there (on the last time I went) and was like "WTF am I doing, I don't even need money"....and haven't been back since.

I talked to this doctor and he said he did that for the entirety of his med school lol

1st time takes a while, but also if you're not properly hydrated it takes a while too. They also base how much you have to give off your weight, so where as a friend of mine only had to give like 620ml and was in and out in around an hour, I had to give 880ml so it was around 1.5 hrs from walking in the door to walking out. Would just lay there and read. Also made sure I downed like 40oz of water & 50g of protein before going.

I've got a buddy who's wife goes 2x/week for "play money" and she's been doing it for like 2 years. works out to like $500/month. I always went at the same times and noticed all the same people every time.

Actually never donated as a volunteer yet although I want to begin to, however it happens that I donate about 2x/year because a friend or a relative of a friend needs blood

As often as they'll take it because hematocrit runs high and fam has history of stroke/cardiovasc disease

Unfortunately the Red Cross doesn’t have a place up here. Alaska blood bank is all we have.
