Thing is, purebloods tend to peddle in scientific illiteracy. mRNA has a very short half-life once it is exposed and does its thing to produce the antigens for the immune response. It's not conceivable that it could stick around long enough to cause any clinically relevant effect for any significant amount of time.


If we see any long-term or delayed effect, it will be from an autoimmune response to the vaccine, not the vaccine itself. But mRNA will be less likely to trigger an autoimmune response than an actual infection. It mimics the actual infectious process the virus induces, but once it is translated into the spike, it is metabolized and gone. But the virus itself will be in the body pumping out new proteins, so there's a higher chance of autoimmune reaction there.

And since the vaccine makes just one protein, it limits the immune response and makes it highly specific. A real infection can generate a response to any part of the virus, and that could include proteins with similarity to our own; so a higher chance for cross-reaction there. The vaccines were tested for their effectiveness for a pandemic costing us millions of lives, not for the concern over twits on the internet flipping their chit over rare 1-100,000 or 1-million side effects.

First, I'm glad the data is being released. I'm always in favor of transparency. Second, I don't see anything alarming in the CDC link at all. Vaccine (and pretty much all other medicines) have very rare but potentially serious side effect. That's not exactly groundbreaking news. While I'm certainly glad I'm not one of the NINE people who've died from the vaccine out of 550,000,000 doses, I'm not too worried about something happening with a 0.000002% probability.
