Biden's presidency began with canceling the completion of an American pipeline (right before he green-lit a Russian pipeline). Then he banned new oil and gas leases on federal lands. Then he pressured banks to divest in oil and gas projects.
The democrat's argument goes: "B-b-but there are 9,000 unused drilling permits that are approved! Greedy oil companies are refusing to drill with these permits because they want to profit from this crisis!"
This is an idiotic lie that only the dumbest of asses believe.
Democrats want you to believe that a drilling permit is the only thing needed for new oil and gas projects - this is false. It's a puzzle of leases, permits, right of way, and other regulatory BS.
When dumbass joe biden banned all new oil and gas leases on federal lands, he took away one of the requirements for drilling. If a producer has 8 of the 9 requirements met, but he doesn't have that 1 last piece, they can't actually produce anything. IF a producer can't get a lease for a parcel of land, it creates a gap between the approvel parcels and they can't drill.
It's the same for the other pieces of the puzzle - right of ways, drilling permits, environmental litigation, etc. They must all line up.
As a result of his original lease ban, there have been ZERO onshore lease sales since dumbass biden took office. And even though the courts have struck down this order, BIDEN is still refusing to have onshore lease sales.
And the capital companies need to actually develop? Biden is actively trying to deny financing of new projects. Biden's agencies issues rules discouraging investment in oil and gas and his banking nominees openly call for the destruction of American oil production.
Even without pressure to divest, investors need certainty to invest in a project. They need to know they will get a return on investment and that the project will come to fruition. Biden purposely caused regulatory uncertainty to stop investments.
There is not a single serious person who can look at biden's actions over the past year (cancelling pipelines, discouraging investments, restricting land leases, etc) and thinks the current energy crisis is the fault of American producers as opposed to this dumbass administration.

At the same time it looked like the pandemic was ending and demand skyrocketed while supply didn't keep up. Oil companies aren't even matching their production from 2019, and Biden has absolutely nothing to do with that.

Domestic production has gone down a lot since Biden ended federal gas leases meaning more oil has to be imported.
Shutting down Keystone has put upward pressure on prices due to speculators anticipating lowered future production.
