2-1 Federer.

Nadal found a way to face him only 3x where he won 13 of his slams.

If you refute this please show where Nadal racked up the wins against Federer on grass, fast HC, and indoors. I'll wait.

3-1 at the AO
1-3 at Wimby.

Where did you get the 2-1 from old man? memory failing you already?

3-1 Federer. Left out their last Wimbledon match.

The point is Nadal is stronger in the first half of the season. No argument there. Federer kept coming back for more on clay.

If they'd played another 10x on grass and indoors the H2H would be very close.

Let's take our fanboy glasses off and speak facts.

1-Nadal is a horrible match up for Federer.
2- Nadal HISTORICALLY cleans up during the CC season and is running on fumes right after the USO

This is IMHO the MAIN reason why he's never won a WTF title or done well on indoor. His biggest strength (utter domination on clay) hampers his performance after the USO, no one could dominate like him on clay, be competitive during the NA swing, and continue to win big during the indoor/ tail end of the season, no one is that fit, not even the genetic freak that is Nadal.

pretty crazy nadal is having the best start to the season ever at 35 years of age.. never would have believed. looking forward to the alcaraz match

also, what a joke for the US to not allow Djokovic to play without a vax; less than 30% of people have their booster which apparently is "required" for full immunity.

With Djokovic warming the pine those wins over Medvedev have given him the confidence to believe he can beat anyone and of course he can. He could have a better season than 2013.

iabs, Federer on grass, fast HC, and indoors is equally a bad matchup for Nadal. I've said this before but I believe Nadal possesses the talent to play like Federer if he'd wanted but that's not the way he was coached and as a result he's more vulnerable on quicker surfaces and indoors. He built a game that has proven to be more successful in the long run however he's definitely reaping the rewards of those changes he made with Moya in 2017, developing a more aggressive style with shorter points.

*40-15 hurts so I've tried to forget Wimbledon 2019. So close to beating Nadal and Djokovic back to back in his twilight years for #21 but couldn't close the deal. You probably tried to forget 2015.

As for the old part...

Nadal: "I feel pain even when I try to breathe. It's like I have a needle inside. The thing that worries me now is what I have to do to recover and how long it's going to take."

Cracked rib. Out 4-6 Weeks.

Shouldn't linger beyond that but not sure how much tennis he'll be able to do in the meantime (or cardio).

Definitely won't be racking up clay court masters titles this season but I imagine he'll be ready to compete at the French.

How does a tennis player crack a rib? It's not a contact sport and he's not diving around like Becker.

Nishikori had a similar injury a few years back but it's still not common. Feel free to do a search for it.

Vaccination status is everyone's business until an adverse reaction and then it's strictly off limits. Anything of that nature would be a PR nightmare and he'd face uncomfortable questions and scrutiny especially after he threw Novak under a bus. It would also become a much bigger story. I genuinely hope it's muscular but this would be a convenient excuse while something more serious is investigated.

This was my initial reaction, imagine the force he must excel while swinging that racquet.....danm.

And it's not a floating rib either.

When he's switched on, world No. 102, the Hunchback of Canberra with his spray on hair looks like a Top 5 player.

Disposed of two top 5 opponents with ease the last 2 weeks.
Sinner will be a good test, though he hasn't exactly been dialed in getting stretched to 3 sets often the last 2 weeks.

I imagine his results on clay won't be as good, and I think he has a lot of questions to answer before we take him seriously as a threat at the grand slams but he's absolutely capable of winning a Masters Title.

Really admirable and consistent performance from Sinner imo.

Dude didn't say a word and played his tennis while Kygs had the usual meltdown including a game penalty. Nick lost it in the tiebreak in the first set against Nadal and double faulted on setpoint iirc and does so again here. Must be scary to actually try your best.

I think having Kyrgios on tour trying with the occassional meltdown is a net positive for the sport but I could really do without the unsportmanslike conduct. Getting sand in his vagina because the crowd goes 'oooh' and 'aaah' during a good rally, like really mate? Just admit you're bummed out because you're not doing as well as you hoped and get over it.

If Nick could find a coach who he'd listen to, he'd be a force to be reckoned with.

Good performance from Sinner.

He's dreaming if he thinks he can be competitive without a coach. You can sneak a few big wins on talent alone but week in, week out, you need a coach to scout the opposition and to raise your level. He doesn't want to pay someone to hold him accountable which is a shame because he turns 27 next month.

He might think he's got another 8-10 years looking at Djokovic and Nadal who work harder than anyone but realistically he's probably got another 3-4 years left. He should be in the Top 10, he should have a couple of Masters by now, and at least reached a slam final.

Carlos & Swiatek's fav surfaces are clay.

Carlos going in with his first M1000 title under his belt. Should be good.

Swiatek going in with doha, IW and Miami wins, undefeated in 3 tournies.

Bookies are wrong for Monte Carlo, tomorrow

Taylor Fritz will beat Sebastian Korda @ 2.05 (105)
Lorenzo Musetti will beat Diego Schwartzman @ 2.4 (140)

@discussion above: Nick needs to get his priorities straight. 1-2 years ago he was trying to make a competitive gaming career next to tennis.. Full on twitter marketing his gaming skills etc. Bet he spent way more time gaming than repetitive on-court tennis training during that time

Nothing wrong losing on your first comeback match after a few months of no competition.

The worrying statement is admitting how you ran out of gas by the end of the second set.

Can we really say that Djokovic will be able to hide behind a weapon like Fedals FH and variety?

His claim to fame is his court coverage (mainly elasticity) and ball redirection. He's BHDTL has been missing for years now.

Back in 2017 when he had his dip and elbow injury and people were quick to count him out, I said he would come back to the top, now with the field getting stronger and him being 35 I think the writing is on the wall, too early I know, but I will make that bold prediction and live with the consequences, come at me. lol

He needs matches to build confidence. What happened in Australia will take some time to process. He needs a deep run at a slam. Next year in Oz the mandate will be gone and the government will let him return.

Not sure either, Schwartzman was zoned in vs Fucsovic yesterday. Impressive how powerful his shots were with consistently the right depth and width.
However, Fucsovics looked really uninspired and didn't bring Diego much troublesome shots to play. Musetti has a far greater arsenal of weaponry, he's zoned in too and certainly found the right speed, depth and width vs Felix yesterday. Threw amazing shots in there. It will be an interesting match

edit: public today is behind Musetti, way louder cheers when he came on, should play a minor role too
