Is it Okay to Beat Your Kids? (srs)

I was beaten with every household item, slapped etc

Tbh I won’t do the same for my future kids, not because it’s looked down on Nowadays, but I simply don’t think it was effective

Beat? Never.

A swat in the moment, sure. But it would require a lot.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

No. There are much better ways to punish your kids than beating them. Every kid is different. You have to figure out what works for them.

An embarrassing slap on the ass in public should do it if they’re being rude and acting horrible

But in 2022 you pretty much only have to take away their WIFI/internet privileges and you’re golden. After 24 hours they’ll straighten out lol

Actually beating your kids with brutal force is just plain wrong and barbaric and nobody should do that ever

I was always getting my ass beat by my dad who worked 3rd and had a temper. My parents were really young when they had me too so he wasn’t really old enough to learn to control his temper either.

I don’t do that to my kids at all. It actually made me rebel even worse when I got to my teens so it’s not like it helped. I punish my kids by taking away things they really love and I try my best to always do it calmly and explaining that their action are what led to their punishment. Luckily my kids are really well behaved so far mostly but one’s going to be a teen soon and I’m expecting the worst hoping for the best.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

I can't believe I have to explain this. No. Don't beat children. Might doesn't make right. Would you like them to beat you when you are an elder? No. You wouldn't. So don't beat them. Beating children forces them to learn how to deal with your irrational rages. They are elevated to the alpha position, while you are throwing tantrums that could concuss or kill them. There is nothing sadder than an alpha child. In extreme forms, children become completely feral and learn to run from human beings.
This is at the heart of those who are "dogpilled."
Feral/ dog pilled humans relate to non humans more readily because they have learned that humans are hostile. This causes relationship problems. For example, my foster bro, who I loved more than any other human, became jealous of one of my dogs and literally killed him out of frustration.

Also, once feral, particularly if this occurred prior to the kid being able to speak, it's basically impossible to ever be not feral. The urge to run is overwhelming because it's life saving mechanism. Run or die. The urge can only be controlled, but it's always there. This happens because of beatings. So don't beat children. Or anyone. Work on practicing some self control and regulating your emotions like adults - or like the beaten children must learn to do.

I stop spanking around 6 or 7. There’s simply more effective psychological means to control children at that point. If you still relying on physicality at that age you don fukking up. Good luck with your teenage nightmare.

And wtf at beating

All that would teach a kid is when he’s pissed off he can go psycho

Maybe a spank, but even I could think of better alternatives.

Sometimes my parents would get a little carried away in their anger. Of course that made me angry, but then they threaten to punish you more if you show emotion.

"Stop that crying!"

"Straighten up your face!"

That can be especially hard for a young child to do since they're not emotionally mature just yet. That leads to repressed emotions of their own, and resentment for their parents. I also witinessed a lot of young kids getting disciplined in public. Like I get it, you do have to check your kid, but there's a difference in between publicly disciplining a child, and publicly humiliating a child. Again, that can lead to long term emotional damage and resentment. My parents had it much worse when they were kids so I understand how they got carried away with me sometimes. Their parents did some fuked up chit to them, I honestly can't bring myself to speak to my Dads parents for that reason.

No, never. If you hit your kids and justify it you're just demonstrating that you're a lazy, unskilled parent that has no idea how to discipline their children properly. Your kid does something you don't agree with and you hit him, think about what kind of life lesson you're teaching him in that moment. Nice emotional regulation skills.

Most people are ill-equipped and should not have children. Alas, that's not in line with reality.

I can’t stand parents who talk their kids to death explaining everything in a public singsong voice

A bum slap if they are doing something imminently dangerous
Otherwise a look, an admonition, or a removal from environment is more than sufficient

For older kids more talk

Knocked out as a kid crew says nope.

I have lots of male friends whose girlfriends and wives talk this way to their misbehaving toddlers and absolutely nothing changes. It's so grating and irritating to listen to.

Spanked-Yes

But it needs to be explained to them WHY it's happening, never with your hand (that is for showing love), and NEVER in anger..ever.
If you are about to hit your child in anger..you take a fuking time out.

When you’re a kid you get spanked as punishment

Then you grow up and the meaning changes

So that’s weird

Beat, no
Discipline yes

Discipline: Whooping yo kid with a belt because they've been starting fights in school, being bad just to be bad, etc, but when they start crying that's when the message is sent. But it's to show them there's consequences to bad actions, and it's better to get taught by someone you love, and afterwards, clean you up and continue to take care of you, rather than the streets show you consequences to actions, where you're in a casket or jail most likely.

Beating: Slapping yo kid, harming your kid just to harm them cause of alcohol, stress, etc. , aka scars on the kid, burn marks, etc, going too far with the discipline.

tldr: Discipline is when the kid looks back and goes "Yeah i was a bad kid at times and i deserved that whoopin"
Beating is when the kid looks back and goes "I'm gonna beat my dad's ass when i turn 15-18, swear to god."

1st 2 bolded lines: 350% percent for men, then down the line when no emotion is shown or men find a better way of hiding it, suddenly it's a problem down the line.

2nd bolded: Agreed 350%. Publicly humiliating a child can be similar to disciplining, but when it's posted on youtube, wurlstaar, etc. But the flipside to that is that video can get in the wrong hands and the kid ends up losing their parent worse case scenario.

Yeah, there are always ways to discipline without resorting to physical punishment.

How do you spank a kid if not with your hand? Cause if you're using something else to hit them with then that's way too far.
