Was World War I just the sh!tty prequel to WWII?
I think it’s undeniable.
There are countless movies about WWII but very few of WWI. Is it all because it was mostly trench warfare with soldiers waiting endlessly for a futile charge into machine gun fire?
And why did Germany just give up outta nowhere the way they did? Makes no sense.
I’m no fan of Hitler. Like Norm Macdonald, I didn’t care for the guy before it became cool to hate him. But I can kinda understand why he blew a gasket after waking up in a hospital bed after being gassed/blinded and being told Germany surrendered.

There are some great WW1 movies - most recently and notably 1917.

I know Dunkirk was WWII and it was aright but didn’t really have a climax to it. They’re not making good movies about either war these days.

To be fair to the Russians, they did have a sh!tload of casualties to justify their occupation of Eastern Europe. That’s why Patton got so pissed off when Eisenhower wouldn’t give him the green light to take Berlin, only to give it up to the Russians. Stalin had all the leverage. And our own guys assassinated Patton because he was gonna come back to America and declare war on Russia. No doubt Patton was a glory seeker but he was right about the Russians and noticed too late how much more civilized the Germans were compared to the Russians.
I read somewhere that a lot of Germans were really disappointed in the US for siding with those savage Russians when they hated communism just as much as we did. Their army raped an insanely high number of German women.

I think Muscovians were probably as civilised as Berliners, but there were an awful lot of soldiers who came from the steppes and were effectively mediaeval peasants. They were enraged when they arrived in Germany and found all the cool stuff even average people owned. They were like 'I own a broom inherited from my uncle, these guys have radios and clocks and couches, why were they invading us?!'.
I believe that the full extent of the rape apocalypse wasn't known until old Soviet archives including Red Army records became available to scholars when the USSR collapsed. It was pretty crazy. They also found out about some huge battle that occurred in Russia between the USSR and the Germans, I'm talking 10s of thousands of soldiers involved on both sides, but it was buried and forgotten because the Germans won.

WW1 was to take down the monarchies. WW2 was to take out the independent dictators, especially Hitler. WW1 was a wrap once America stepped in plus Britain had Germany blockaded.

Shame because WWI and the lead up is very interesting and most people don't know chit about it except the years it took place.

Appeasement only makes the aggressor more aggressive and Churchill was no Chamberlain. Hitler learned that the hard way. His two main enemies were Communism and the International bankers and wanted to liberate Europe of that. Not defending the guy, just saying what he did.WW1 was to take down the monarchies. As far as Japan goes, Roosevelt basically provoked them into war with us by cutting off oil and steel exports to them. So Japan saw an opportunity to hit us hard at Pearl Harbor so they could have free reign to occupy all those Asian islands while we were still recovering our Navy. They didn’t hit our aircraft carriers or the oil tanks at Pearl which was a massive fuk up.
Hitler got all excited when Japan hit us at Pearl Harbor so he declared war on the US in hopes of Japan helping him fight off the Russians in the East. That was a massive fail and even his generals saw it as pointless to invite America into WWII since their navy sucked other than their U-boat glory days before radar/sonar improved after 1941 to sink those fukkers.
